When this Valentine’s themed shoot designed by The Flower Fashion and photographed by Kristida Photography dropped into our inbox earlier this week, we knew we just had to share it with you, packed as it is with pinnable pictures and ideas to steal for a romantic dinner or a get together with the girls.

I love the rustic-meets-romantic-meets-hot theme, which takes natural elements such as twisted fallen branches and chocolate-coloured twine and mixes them up with deep red flowers, chilli peppers and pillar candles, all arranged around vintage candelabra. And to eat? Why chocolate-dipped strawberries, flower-and-strawberry-adorned light-as-air sponges, petal-covered cupcakes and pink macaroons, of course!

Prior to seeing this shoot I have to be honest and say that red wouldn’t necessarily have been my first choice for a colour scheme but The Flower Fashion totally nailed it here and has made me seriously rethink. The amaryllis benfica and anemone add texture and a softness to the naomi roses for serious floral prettiness. And who knew that twine could look so damn right in such a grand setting? It adds interest to the pillar candles and, tied around the place settings, provides contrast with the shininess of the chilli peppers. Jamie Oliver’s chilli is one of my go-to dishes for winter gatherings, very tempted to do chilli pepper place settings next time!

Can we just talk about the glassware? (I’m more than a little bit obsessed with glassware of all kinds right now). The heavy cut glasses at each table setting add a decadent feel, while the glass cake stands, cake plates and cloches are elegant-to-the-max and the red tea light holders amp up the colour. As the light fades and the pillar candles and tea lights are lit things could get seriously hot in herre (Nelly’s spelling, not a typo).

Anyone else inspired to add some flowers and candles to the table for Valentine’s day? Is it just me who suddenly wants, no needs, a vintage candelabra in their life?! What’s the most romantic thing you’ve ever done on Valentine’s day? Got a go-to dish for winter gatherings? Do share below and wishing you a lovely day on Saturday, whatever you have planned!
