I’m determined to stay healthy through autumn and into winter and so I’ve been adding extra layers to my workout kit to keep out the cold, taking supplements to make sure I’m getting all the vitamins and minerals I need and eating as much seasonal veg as possible, with Tom Hunt’s The Natural Cook, from August’s Healthy Haul as my guide. Here’s my favourite buys of recent weeks…

Seamless Competition Workout Jacket, £65, Sweaty Betty

This jacket is proving to be a very useful addition to my autumn workout wardrobe (which is actually just my summer workout wardrobe with extra layers over the top). I wear it under a jacket to keep me warm on the way to early morning yoga classes (it’s chilly at 6.30am!) and throw it on over a vest top for evening runs. It fits snugly without being restrictive, has two zip pockets for keys, money and so on, plus a hood and thumb holes so the sleeves cover all the way to the base of your fingers for extra warmth on cold days.

Sanex Zero %, £1.73, Ocado

Over the past few months I’ve been replacing my beauty products with more natural alternatives as I finish them but it hadn’t occurred to me to change my deodorant until I read an interview with Alexa Chung who revealed that she uses Crystal Elegance Pomegranate Natural Protection Mineral Deodorant because of the possible cancer link with other deodorants. I picked up Sanex Zero % Extra Effective roll on, which seemed to be the healthiest choice in my supermarket. It’s free from aluminium chlorohydrate, alcohol and parabens, smells pleasant, keeps me dry-ish and doesn’t leave marks. However I’m slightly confused by the fact that it says it is “a more natural” deodorant which sounds a little vague…

Daily 4 Me The Hectic Years 30+, £30, Inner Me

I’ve never popped supplements on a regular basis mostly because I was never really sure which ones I should be taking. Inner Me remove the guesswork with their Little Box of Wellbeing age-specific supplement boxes. Each box contains a four-week supply of four different tablets organised into daily tear-off strips which make it easy to keep track, even on the busiest of days. It would be quicker to say what the supplements don’t contain so, topline, your key vitamins, minerals, omega 3, probiotics and antioxidants are covered. I’m sure it’s no coincidence that over the four weeks I’ve been taking the supplements I’ve felt full of energy despite a (very) hectic work/life schedule and my skin is looking so glowy, the first thing people are asking me when they see me is what products I’m using. In addition to the supplements there are lots of healthy, tasty, mostly one pot recipes that don’t require hundreds of ingredients on the Inner Me website to boost the benefits of each of the boxes.

Surf Café Living, £16.55, Amazon

While not a health book as such Surf Café Living (the second book by Jane and Myles Lamberth, keen surfers who run Shells, a seaside café on the west coast of Ireland) is packed with simple, tasty recipes with an emphasis on fresh, organic, seasonal produce and lots of inspiration for outdoorsy pursuits such as cycling and surfing, so I think it deserves a spot in this month’s Healthy Haul even if some of the recipes are quite a long way from the traditional idea of healthy food. The book is divided into six sections, including one on each season. As well as loads of recipes there are ideas aplenty for entertaining, DIYs, upcycling and home-styling. It’s a beautifully designed book filled with pretty photographs and illustrations which has me dreaming about taking a surfing and cycling trip around Ireland, stopping for at least one meal at Shells, of course.

Legendary Concerto Capris, £47.99, Nike

As much as I’m trying to stay away from black and shades of grey when it comes to my workout wardrobe when I saw these cropped leggings in the sale in my local Nike store the day before I was due to go on yoga retreat I couldn’t resist. I love the flattering cut and pattern and the shape, which is high on the waist and tight all over. They’re supposed to be for running but I’ve mostly worn them for yoga and spinning so far. At the end of the day what’s the difference?
