It’s no secret that Team RMLtd are fans of the pineapple. Between us we have all manner of pineapple inspired paraphernalia from cocktail spoons to phone covers and from pineapple prints to pieces of clothing peppered with the spiky motifs. Hell we even have a Pinterest board devoted to the glorious fruit. The dedication is real folks.

But it’s struck me as I’ve perused the interweb this last month on my various shopping adventures that more and more cacti themed items are appearing in my favourite retail haunts. In fact I’d even go as far as saying that they’re beginning to outnumber the adored Pineapple which begs the question…are cacti the new pineapples?

What do you think?

In the meantime I’ve rounded up the best of the cacti crop for your perusal from kids clothes through to delectable lamps, there’s bound to be something you love.

Homeware

When it comes to homeware I’m always inexplicably drawn to lamps and chairs. Don’t ask me why but it’s as if I have some kind of homing beacon when it comes to these products. It’s no surprise then that I’ve included a couple of lamps in today’s round-up; surprisingly there were no chairs that I could find anyway that utilised a cacti theme.

My favourite lighting picks have got to be this white and golden tipped beauty from This Modern Life which they’ve suggested would be right at home in a nursery but which I can completely see on my shelves in my still yet to be built living room. Alternatively if you’re looking for something a little bit more realistic then this technicolour version from Urban Outfitters could do the trick. Not to be confused with something a little more akin to male body parts however…

Perhaps you’re after something a little more sophisticated with a touch of bling? Graham & Green have come up trumps with this delicate yet towering table lamp with fine decorative arms and a marble base. It’s not in store yet but sign up to be notified when it comes in stock.

On the soft furnishings front may I present this totally fun cactus shaped cushion from H&M which is embroidered with little gold stitches for that touch of luxe. I think it’s technically been designed for a kids’ bedroom but I say throw caution to the wind and pop it on your sofa instead.

Urban Outfitters have come up trumps with this cactus inspired bedlinen set that comes with two pillowcases and a duvet cover and is available in single, double and king sizes. Starting from only £30, the mint colour scheme is the perfect way to inject a bit of Spring into your bedroom. Alternatively mix things up with H&M’s take on patterned pillowcases which are currently in the sale.

Lottie particularly loved this Sass & Belle Cactus Jewellery Holder which she said you guys just had to know about. The polka dot pink dish which sits underneath the cactus is the perfect colour combo pairing.

Those of you who read Lisa’s post on Saturday and who are also looking for statement wallpaper might be tempted by this watercolour cactus print from Anewall which comes in both self-adhesive and traditional formats. Details wise, the finish is matte and I’m seriously considering using the pattern in the new house.

I know the finds just keep on coming don’t they! Looking for a cactus pot/vase for the single blooms in your life? How about this beauty from Tea & Kate. Made by by Marie Michielssen for Serax we love the spikily cute bumpy texture. You say you need a cacti shelf? Yep we’ve got one of those too! Made in Denmark from 100% wood you just know it will be a conversation starter in any home. The same brand also make this monochrome hook too. It’s so good that you won’t want to hang anything from it for fear of covering it up.

Fashion

Charlotte sent me a link one Saturday night (typical enabling behaviour from O’Shea I might add) to this blouse from ASOS which she thought I might like (I did). The black piped detailing is especially cute and the size of the print is small enough to not be too obvious at first glance which I quite like.

Alternatively if you’re not a blousey kind of gal then perhaps this super soft cream jumper (it has alpaca in it) with green embroidery is for you…I love the side slits and the longer length which is great for tucking into skirts and shorts.

If you’re looking for something a tad more summery then this black t-shirt from New Look complete with three different illustrations is probably for you. A bargainous £8, it comes in both long length and cropped versions.

Alternatively this white tee emblazoned with numerous depictions of cacti varieties by Monki is also super cute. Perfect for lounging in by the pool when the weather gets a little hotter.

Kids

Those of you who read Rock My Family on a regular basis will know that I’ve had my eye on this cactus t-shirt for Hector for a wee while now. I’m waiting for the weather to get warmer and for payday to roll around again and then I’ll pop it in my shopping basket.

My brother-in-law is expecting his first child this month and these cutesy bloomers from Noe & Zoe at Skandimini are definitely on my list to include in their baby hamper.

Team member Laura spotted this awesome prickly playsuit from Next available from 3 months to 6 years which she adores. Apparently Next are totally on board the Cactus bandwagon!

Bits & Bobs

To finish off then Lauren spotted this ‘What a Prick‘ card which made her chuckle so we simply had to include it and I’m particularly lusting after this set of cacti fairy lights which would look amazing wrapped around a small gift instead of ribbon. And if you’re a girl who has to have a novelty phone case then may I introduce you to this perspex number with miniature prickly plant dotted all over it.

So what are your thoughts? Are you a cacti convert or do you remain loyal to the exotic pineapple? And are there any amazing products that we need to know about fashioned after one of these prickly plants? We’d love to hear all about it…
