I have to say, I have a slight cushion obsession. I love them. Piled on the sofa, neatly arranged on the bed or just popped on the floor as extra comfy seating. I’m not even fussy on the style. They can be knitted, linen or felt, handmade or shop bought.
But my absolute favourite cushion is one that is a bit of a bargain. Yep, just £12 from Habitat. At that price you can afford to buy enough to fill your lounge!
If you saw my home tour here or here you may have noticed them popping up around the place. The patterns are just so lovely and vibrant and brighten up any corner. They are pretty versatile too and seem to go well with most styles of furniture. You may gather that I love pattern and colour so these are the perfect combination for me. With a quirky, yet simple, repeat pattern and the loveliest palette of colours. They work well together or mixed up with other plain cushions.
I have them sat on our classic style sofa in the snug and have mixed them in here with a range of knitted and animal motif cushions. My little girls have for some reason claimed these as their own. Molly’s is the rabbit cushion and Alice’s is the Flamingo. Sadly they don’t seem to do these designs any more which is a shame but they are constantly bringing out new variations.
In our bedroom we chose three of the cushions. The bird print in soft grey and pastels is so lovely. They were the perfect colour combo to go with the room and sit really well wit our mid century inspired furniture.
I recently made a few new purchases. In truth I had no idea which room they were for until I got them home and they regularly get moved around at the moment!! This Pelican one is a new favourite and the new grey bird design with a hit of yellow looks great in the lounge.
I also have a section out in the garden for those summer months (sadly now a distant memory). The sunshine yellow flower variation is ideal. They are perfect on the garden bench to create a comfy place for relaxing in the sunshine. And at that price I don’t mind them getting a bit sun faded or sticky ice cream fingers on them.
Does anyone else have a favourite bargain home buy that they buy again and again?

These are lovely. I was chatting to my husband about cushions last night (it was a fairly one sided conversation). We have painted our living room quite a dark grey and got some new charcoal sofas so want something to add a bit of colour, will be popping a few of these in the shopping basket! Thanks Lottie xx
This sounds very much like my ‘discussions’ with my husband about house purchases! Your colours sound great x
I know its a broad, sweeping, wildly sexist statement – but, husbands really dont understand cushions do they.
I’ve actually found that Lee doesn’t even really notice them so most of the time I can just sneak them in 🙂 xx
Ha ha! So true. Edd really couldn’t care less. That said he did once buy me some very expensive Jan Constantine cushions (about £70 each!!) so he must know something on cushions. Although not sure I’d ever spend that much and am ashamed to say I no longer have them out as they don’t match my current colour scheme! Oops xx
I am a cushion-a-holic too! Such an easy way to add colour and fun to a room. I’m going to check our habitat’s selection now…..I’m a big fan of h&m’s cushion range, really fun and such good value too x
I love H&M cushions.. I am thinking of updating my lounge with a new colour palette so may make a few new purchases. Also, have you checked our George at Asda? Some great cushions there at the moment. x
Ooh I shall have a look, thanks for the tip. I love anthropologie but they’re expensive and I change them too often to justify buying too many Funnily enough I wrote about cushions on my blog last week too ? Xx
Dunhelm all the way for cushions! They have the most amazing selection and so cheap. I have the cutest grey cushion with yellow appliqué birds on it in our nursery, makes me happy every time I see it!
Completely in agreement Kat. The fox one on my sofa is from there and it’s a firm favourite. x
But….but… the fox one – where’s that from please?
Where is the fox one from please?
Hi Amanda. It was Dunelm Mill some time last year xx
I’m so glad you asked as I was thinking that too as it’s the whole reason I noticed the photo!
It’s still available! Yay!

What a beautiful home-so much inspiration. Loving the cushions too. Please may I ask which paint colours you have used in your sitting room and also your bedroom?!
Thanks so much
Ah, thanks Fiona. In the snug it is bleached Lichen from Dulux (one of their mix ones) and the bedroom is pebble shore, again by Dulux. You can see more of the house here
