When we launched Rock My Wedding there was hardly any pressure and certainly no expectation. It was just a hobby after all, a teeny tiny online escape which we hoped might inspire creative brides to have the big day of their dreams.
That was over four years ago. Rock My Wedding grew beyond our wildest imagination and soon became a successful bona fide business and a full time job.
With an ever-increasing and in some respects transitional readership, it soon became apparent that we could create several other online entities that our existing loyal community could utilise after Rock My Wedding simply became a place to look at pretty things and indulge in a love story.
We know your desire for fashion, beauty, craft and DIY doesn’t stop just because planning your wedding day has come to an end, we are also acutely aware that many of you will be considering house renovations, expanding your recipe repertoire or perhaps planning your next holiday.
And that’s why we’ve created Rock My Style, your daily dose of complete lifestyle inspiration.
It was just over two years that we sketched out the initial design concept, which although not a million miles away from where it is today, has certainly evolved. We are really proud of our final revision and hope that you will find the site easy to use and full of useful, practical and let’s face it, sometimes slightly frivolous ideas. We want Rock My Style to offer our audience genuine tangible value but above all things, we want it to just make you happy – improve your day that little bit, whether that’s because we helped you find your perfect lipstick or because we provided the kick start you needed for a complete career change.
This time the pressure really is on and expectations are high, we know, you’ve told us.
To read all about the team behind Rock My Style then please do have a look at our “About” page and if you’d like a quick tour of the site features and how to find everything stop by our “Browse” page.
In the main though, we suggest you just have yourselves a good old look around and if you have a few minutes please do come back and tell us what you think in the comments area of this post.
Thanks so much for stopping by, we hope to see you again very very soon.
Oh hiyaaaaa!
Congratulations gorgeouses, I have a feeling I’m going to get very lost in these pages. Now, off to investigate…
xxx
Hey Karen… Congratulations on being the first commenter on Rock My Style.
Nice to have you here!
I’m just sucking up!
Hello *waves*
I’m liking what I see so far in my brief 5 mins off from work (that turned into 20!). Unfortunately I have to get back to work now so I’m tearing myself away until I can indulge in a proper look later.
Hello *waving back!* So happy to hear that you’re liking what you see so far. Apologies if your longer-than-planned lunch break means you end up working late tonight…
That’s the thing – it wasn’t in my lunch break which is why it was supposed to only be a quick look!
LOVE, love this site! I’ve been a big fan of RMW for many years & this is just another perfect addition. Thank you for continually providing a wonderful source of inspiration x
Pleasure Rachael, we’re glad you like it – thanks for being such a loyal community member!
You’re the town mouse to my country mouse. I imagine this will end up becoming my first port of call whenever I feel the urge to kick off the muck boots and bathe in a bit of luxe.
Particularly enjoying the search by category dynamic gallery. That’s a bit swish.
The Martha-Stewart-esque (not a bad thing) masthead image slideshows are going to take a bit of getting used to when one is accustomed to reading posts interspersed images peppered throughout, but hey, who knows I may grow to love that.
All in all, very suave indeed, team Rock My.
I’m off to practise gazing winsomely at the floor now…..
Hi Philippa,
Happy you like what you’ve seen so far. Haha, after I’m done typing I’m going to go and gaze winsomely at the floor some more…
Miranda x
Hi Phillipa! the slider wasn’t a “quick” decision in terms of development, we know it’s different and some folks may miss the interspersed images (we’re not “never” going to do this in the future) but it kind of worked best for the clean style (!) of this site. Plus it works a treat for mobile browsing rather than continual scrolling.
I sincerely hope you do grow to love it and that we see you again soon!
Charlotte x
Yes I can imagine it was a fundamental element that wasn’t arrived at lightly. It certainly lends newness and could well be the way things are headed universally being as the majority of surfing is now done on handhelds.
I’m intrigued to see how advertising is going to be incorporated…. (yes yes I TOO wish I could just leave my commercial designer head at the door and just relax and enjoy the site already)
Everyone’s favourite pose Pip!
Totally agree, you’ve executed this transition beautifully and I’m sure it’s a natural place for your core audience to move onto.
Looking forward to RMS being my first port of call when we move house and start obsessing about interiors xx
#Gaze@TheFloorCouture
@Pip – you’re obsessed…. sssh now /strokes head/
haha just realised I’m TOTALLY gazing at the floor in my gravatar.
I am going to read absolutely EVERYTHING this evening but I just wanted to say that I can tell I am going to love it here on RMS. I am promptly adding it to my ‘must read every morning without fail’ list. Alongside RMW, obvs xx
Guys, this is pretty frickin’ incredible. Well done, kudos and huge congratulations. I’ve had a quick explore and I love the branding, I love the category and tag names, I love the author section at the bottom of each post, and most importantly I love the content! It’s going on the reader xxx
Thanks so much Sama! so much love from you – and very much appreciated, it’s amazing the details you go over and OVER when you design a new site, it feels like it’s never ending.
It’s all worth it in the end though – especially when we receive praise like this x
Why’s everyone got a gravatar? How do I get one?! #bloggerfail
Hey Sama…. If you go to the Gravatar Sign-up page it’s dead quick to sign up and then come back over here and show off your face π
LOVE LOVE LOVE! This is right up my street. I loved looking through Rock My Wedding even before I got engaged, so I’m excited to have another inspiring space to get lost in. I really like the design too, easy to use and very stylish! π
I hearby promise to get totally involved in the fashion and frolics but swear never to stray into the world of cuisine…and seeing as I’ve just bought a lovely new make up suitcase – yes a make up suitcase – it would be very rude not to investigate beauty and brawn.
I seem to work with a lot of cardigan wearers (and not cardigans in the fun retro sense of the word) so thank you for saving my working life.
x
Charlotte – ignore her. I’ve been waiting for the day when I can pitch to you that we feature the recipe for Pamela’s Mum’s famous Cheese and Sausage pie?
That time is now! x
Yay! I’m so glad I can legitimately browse and comment now, instead of one of this ‘just looking for the future’ lurkers on RMW. There’s so much to look at already! It’s all a bit much trying to work out what I want to read – I keep jumping around – there’s so much beautiful-ness! Thank you for creating such a lovely little spot on t’internet.
xx
P.s I confess to having a cleaner too. She is amazing and I’m a little bit in love with her. I’m glad it’s ok to admit to have one!
Sian it is totally ok to admit you have a cleaner! and we did wonder whether we had enough/too much in terms of archive… we wanted to give everyone a flavour of what was to come so tried to populate most categories.
We love your lurking x
I’m so glad that RockMyStyle has launched, I now have a site I can justifiably look at daily (maybe not justifiable to my boss but in lunch breaks perhaps)
I loved RMW, but after getting married in December 2012 I thought I should maybe wean myself off. This is the perfect, albeit better substitute.I’m currently sporting porchester square nail polish and deciding on whether my somewhat poor baking skills can handle the chocolate orange cake at the weekend.
I also think I’ve already consumed most of the posts, better get back to work!
x
Ah, look at this! You totally knocked it out of the park yet again. No surprise there. : )
Well done all of you wonderful people. Now excuse me whilst I waste a rainy afternoon on these lovely pages. I’ll be the one hogging the cosy armchair when everyone else has already gone home for the night.
Thank you thank you thank you π
During our engagement reading Rock My Wedding was the first thing that I did every morning. I loved the excitement of finding some fresh inspiration and it was always the perfect way to start the day! It’s also the first thing I tell any of my newly engaged friends to check out!
As the hubby and I embark on buying our first home together I am beyond excited that this site has launched and I look forward to uncovering lots more ideas, hints and tips that will make a house our home!
Despite a full time job in the TV world I’ve also recently started working with a florist as my love for weddings and prettiness continues to grow and that has definitely been inspired by the RMW team so thank you very much and good luck with your new website!! x
Hi Holly *waves* – I am 99% sure I recognise your name from RMW! so glad you have you on board with our latest adventure x
Has anyone even mentioned the photography yet? Feast for the eyes stuff. Bravo Mrs. Clarke et al.
Nope, but glad you did π
We think it’s so important, Adam has done a lot of the interiors stuff, he is a very all-round talented type. And we’ve already practically kidnapped Anna Clarke too x
LOVE ALL ABOUT IT! Sorry about shouting. π Wish you all the best for the future as I’m sure it will be a bright one, you guys rock as always x
Awesome work guys! I’m loving the site, so so stylish – but then I didn’t expect any less!
I have loved reading RMW throughout the wedding journey and am excited to have the team with me as I start my next chapter as a Mrs!
You guys are a huge inspiration to me, without you I would never have discovered the enjoyment I could get from writing (I thought that joy was only for those who were proper English boffins! π ) and I probably wouldn’t have been quite so creative with our big day (I shudder to think!)
You guys really do rock!
No go open the bubbly (or maybe Shloer!) you deserve it! π xx
Adam is celebrating with an Old Fashioned cocktail this evening and um…I am going to my first NCT meeting (!) there is something so wrong with that picture right?! I am going to bloody well buy some Schloer on my way home!!!!
SO happy to be a part of your next chapter peach x
Total fabulousness and what an utterly gorgeous site. Oh god I’m now going to get told of for having one eye on RMS when I should be doing something far less interesting. Huge congratulations to you all xxxxxxx
ohhh hello! What nice new surroundings π looking forward to everyday-anyday style injections from RMS and will especially look our for anything short-shorts, food or drink related x
Hi, congratulations, I am on bed rest at the more. And this has put a big smile on my face today x
My immediate action – add to favourites!!! Woop woop! Well done gang, it already looks EPIC! x
*waves* Welcome Sophie π x
I logged on expecting to read a couple of articles but there are SO MANY pages of lovely already! I’ve read them all and stayed at work 45 minutes later than I needed to?! (Though technically not working..)
Fab blog and I’m excited that Rock My can book-end my day: Weddings in the morning and Style in the afternoon π Well done all! X x
I absolutely love this page. Just like you wrote, Charlotte, it is perfect for those like me who just can’t get enough of your blog even after being married! The design is really lovely, clean and straightforward. And as always I enjoy browsing through everything you all have to share with us! Really well done!
Just. Flippin’. Brilliant.
This is all.
We say the same about you Becky! x
Congratulations on Rock My Style!
I can’t wait to get my teeth stuck into it! Have followed Rock My Wedding from it’s early days (used to lurk in the You and Your Wedding forums, haha!). Have been married for almost four years and still have a quick look on RMW every now and again. So very glad to have something else to drool over on an evening! Well done! xxx
Hi Claire! Wow, so lovely to have such an *original* still on board π x
Yippeeee!! I LOVED RMW whilst wedding planning but life moves on… I still have a little look now and again but can see this site becoming my new daily pleasure. Bring on the escapism, the style, the beautiful home and empty bank balance!
It looks fab, congratulations! x
Hello everyone! Just popping in to say that the new site looks great, love the design! Looking forward to lots of posts, and if we’re allowed to make requests can I please have lots of housey homey things, and loads of delicious recipes!
K x
Hello Kitty! We’ll see what we can do π x
Having got married 6 months ago (god, time flies!), like many I was trying desperately to steer myself away from RMW (mainly out of severe wedding-envy and the ‘Oh, I so wish I’d done that!!’), but I was always back, gazing in awe at all the pretty – and now I have somewhere else to do exactly that!! Love the concept, the different sections, the design, love it and can’t wait to explore some more!
I do think I am one of the people who misses the gorgeous photos mixed in with the text (sorry!) – it’s lovely and sleek to flick through all the photos at once, but when I was reading some of the articles, I had to keep scrolling back up to work out what the texts was referring to! Maybe it’s just me?! I don’t know!
Either way, I can’t wait to get my daily dose of style from now on π
Hey Jo,
Glad that we can continue to fuel your style based internet addictions… I think before too long you’ll be down with the slider π
And then when you do on occasion go back to RMW for a peak at the pretty you’ll be all “Woah… These articles are loooong!”
Anyway, glad to have you here – make yourself at home π
So happy to have a post-big day blog from you lovely people! It looks great on my PC…any tips for how I get to see the pictures on Feedly?…much handier or subtle work time blog browsing whilst I’m waiting for the kettle to boil!
