I’ve made up my mind, I’m no longer going to be upset by the rubbish weather we’re having to endure at the moment (but seriously, it’s June, where is spring?!). Instead, after being caught in one-too-many Noah-better-hurry-up-with-that-ark type downpours lately, I’m going to adopt the saying, ‘There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing choices,’ as my mantra and see the rain as a shopping opportunity. So here’s five cute summer coats, that all cost less than £100. My pleasure…!
Short trench coat, Zara, £69.99
If I wasn’t currently operating a one-in-one-out policy in my wardrobe, I would own this swingy tan trench coat already. Here’s hoping it hasn’t sold out by the time I finally get around to eBaying the big pile of stuff in my spare bedroom.

Wax parka, Oasis, £69
This jumped out at me because it’s unusual to see a parka that’s black and/or with a waxy finish. It looks cute over the Breton top and denim skirt in the model shot but it would look equally good over a more tomboyish outfit of t-shirt, jeans and Converse.

Parka, Mango, £79.99
With the weather being as unpredictable as it is you probably won’t want to detach the detachable hood, but it’s nice to know you could if you wanted to. The four zipped pockets will make it a must-buy for festival-going readers or anyone that likes to carry a lot of stuff around with them.

Oversize parka, Bershka, £45.99
This coat has got that slightly-scruffy oh-this-I’ve-had-it-forever thing going on, so you’ll easily be able to get away with sneaking another new purchase under the nose of disapproving other halves/flatmates/colleagues.

Classic mac, ASOS, £60
I’ve never really been a mac person, but there’s something about this one that grabbed my attention. It’s such a classic you can totally justify buying it because you’ll wear it for years to come and, well, it’s only £60. You basically can’t not buy it.

This is a very well-timed post! I was harping on yesterday about the need for a summer coat – I’m still piling on my winter coat at any sign of rain (so, all the time then). These options are all great, I think the ASOS mac has my name on it for work, and then I might go and track down the Topshop parka you featured on another post for a more casual option. Thanks Miranda! x
Pleasure, happy shopping Sian! x
Miranda! totally well timed for me to, my beloved Kooples parka has finally had it, I have actual rips in the cuffs (and not in a cool way)
I went onto Mango and bought the bamboo parka in grey but I spotted the denim pinafore dress that the green one is styled with here….and bought that too (!) perfect post pregnancy fashion!!!
Argh, today is so expensive and it’s only 11am!!!!
Boo, is always sad to have to retire a favourite coat 🙁 Love the Mango bamboo parka in grey too. Great choice!
Oooh I’m a bit in love with that Bershka one. That’s lovely and great tip about the sneaking – I would completely try that with a coat like this (and then probably believe my own fib and then buy myself another new summer coat) On the weather note… I don’t know if I’m late noticing this but I love Topshop’s shop for the weather feature! The temperature and weather is displayed so you can click through for what they recommend for today (which, so far, every time I’ve been on has been either rain or overcast… boo) Highly useful for someone like me who is a bit of a magpie for floaty summer maxi dresses because it doesn’t show me any and just gives me a display of more sensible shoes, coats and things that are actually warm enough.
I just noticed Topshop’s shop for the weather feature the other day Amanda, is it new? Anyway it’s genius. I’ve always thought weather forecasts should come with a what-to-wear element, and Topshop have made it happen. Brilliant!
In LOVE with the last two. Having finally just moved into the new house are we sure I can’t buy both for ten pounds ??? :s x
They’re cheap, but not that cheap Clare! Hmm, maybe hold fire until the sales start (probably not long now…). x
