Getting things off your chest has never been so cool. Katharine Hamnett sparked the craze of the slogan tee back in the Eighties and we’re pleased to report that the trend is back in a big way.
We’ve picked out a few of our favourites that won’t break the bank (and we’ve also let a sweatshirt sneak in there too).
Tres Cool | H&M | £7.99
More on the cropped side, this ironic jersey style would look great over a longer vest if you’re not feeling brave enough to flash your midriff.
Controversial | Topshop | £16
The white version of this tee looks to be sold out but if you’re quick you might be able to grab yourself the grey version. With raw hem detailing this t-shirt would look cool teamed with a leather pencil skirt.
Célfie | Tee Hut | From around £9
Inspired by the gorgeous sell out top from Sincerely Jules, you can pick up an Etsy equivalent. A very cute and clever play on the iconic Céline logo and the love of the ‘selfie’ photo. Would look fab paired with jeans and heels for a relaxed yet glam look.
It’s a Paris Thing | New Look | £12.99
Indeed it is. Keep it super chic in this stripy little number from New Look. The slouchy fabric makes it ideal to go up a size.
Too Dumb for New York | San Fran Co | £14.99
I spotted this sweatshirt on one of my favourite Instagramers Pretty Little Fawn and was tempted to get my own. My other half found it hysterical that I had bought a sweatshirt. What does he know?! Sometimes I wear with a chambray shirt and a blingy necklace other times just very simply with a delicate chain.
All our choices are very tame but there are some brash and attention-seeking tees out there. Our top tip would be to keep it ironic but avoid offensive!
Are you saying it loud and proud this season? What slogan will you be emblazoning across your chest?
I love slogan tees but sadly, being (ahem) well endowed, I sometimes feel like I really don’t need to give people any more reason to stare at my chest!!
This made me laugh – a lot!
glad to brighten your day 😉
Ooh, loving the celfie logo but probably because I can’t afford Celine! I do love a stripe so may be taking a trip to New Look very soon to purchase the Paris tee!
