It’s less than two weeks until the first official day of summer and, finally, the weather got the memo. The sun’s out and hopefully it’s here to stay. If you haven’t already, it’s time to get your home ready for summer. Here’s five ways to bring the sun into your home, whatever the weather decides to do…
Treat your bed to a vibrant throw
Anthropologie’s sun-drenched summer catalogue dropped through my front door the other day and, ever since, I’ve been lusting after this reversible coverlet by Mara Hoffman. Equally lovely are these bedspreads from Toast made in India from recycled cotton saris.
Create a bohemian corner
A scattering of floor cushions like this embroidered pouffe and cushion from Bodie And Fou or these covetable cushions from Mara Hoffman’s Anthropologie collection will give your living room a relaxed, summery vibe.
Go for colourful glassware
From a picnic in your local park, to a barbecue in your back garden, eating outside is one of the highlights of the summer months. Whether you’re washing your food down with refreshing homemade lemonade, or something stronger, these turquoise tumblers from Bodie And Fou scream summer.
Bring out the bamboo
Go for the real thing with these hot pink bamboo bowls (available now) or fake it with this vintage-style faux bamboo drinks trolley (coming soon). Both from Oliver Bonas, these bamboo buys are the perfect retro kitsch additions to add to your summer entertaining arsenal.
Give your table a tropical upgrade
Unsurprisingly Zara Home have totally nailed the tropical trend with pineapple accessories aplenty and a selection of colourful laminated tablecloths like this parrot print one and this one that’s covered in tropical blooms, butterflies and birds.
What are you coveting (or have already bought) to get that summer feeling at home? Do share!
Oh Miranda! The Oliver Bonas drinks trolley is so high on my wish list. I LOVE it!
I am feeling very summery today! x
Yay for sunny summer days! Isn’t the trolley fab?! And I’m more than a little bit in love with the Mara Hoffman line for Anthropologie. I’m in central London later today and I’m seriously considering leaving my credit cards at home otherwise it’s very likely that the coverlet and possibly even a floor cushion in each colour will be coming home with me! x
I am very attracted to the parrot table cloth and I’m a sucker for anything by Oliver Bonas.
I need a summer house and a drinks trolley……x
I would love a summer house! Sadly there’s no way I could fit one in my handkerchief-sized garden. A Wendy house perhaps…! x
I definitely need that parrot table cloth in my life. Look at it!! I love it. I bought the pink bamboo bowl from Oliver Bonas at the weekend, it’s so pretty!
It’s so fun isn’t it?! One of those things that sounds like it wouldn’t work but totally does!
L O V E the drinks trolley… if only it were £1.95 instead of £195…on an economy drive…
I know, or even £19.50, sigh…
This is very timely…I just bought these totally tropical bedcovers from Zara Home. http://www.zarahome.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductPage?storeId=84009906&langId=-1&catalogId=80209906&categoryId=806023&productId=3377514
There were comments about a bedroom like a jungle…but I love the summer vibe!
I am now also covetting the drinks trolley, but alas, no room.
Loving your tropical bedcovers Sarah, isn’t Zara Home brilliant?!
