It’s that time of year, officially spring but the weather hasn’t quite caught up yet. The shops are full of spring (and summer!) clothes and if you don’t move fast you’ll miss out. I’ve picked five things I’m lusting after, all of which, bar the sandals, could totally be worn now and then respun for summer…

This pretty top looks like something the Lisbon sisters would have worn in The Virgin Suicides, which is a very good thing in my book. Wear now under a drapey black jacket with jeans and all summer long with denim shorts.

Floral Dress, £55, Somedays Lovin’ at Urban Outfitters

I have a swingy leopard print dress from American Apparel that I’ve worn to death and I’ve been hunting for a floral one in a similar style. This one with its swingy shape, short sleeves, round neck and bold print is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Wear now with tights and boots and later with simple sandals.

Every spring there’s that first hot-enough-to-get-your-toes-out day when women who are more organised than me step out with perfectly pedicured toes and new sandals. How do they know?! It’s unlikely I’ll be pedi-ready but if I buy these at least I’ll have the sandals…

Zip-up Jacket, £49.99, Zara

A lightweight jacket is a spring essential in this county and this one, being navy blue, would make a change from the khaki and camo that makes up my current spring jacket collection. Wear during the day through spring and in the evening when the temperature drops as it does on even the hottest summer nights.

Cotton Shirt, £12.99, H&M

How good does this slouchy stripy shirt look on Daria Werbowy? To be fair, everything looks good on Daria Werbowy, but this would look good on the rest of us too. Wear like Daria with high-waist flared jeans now, and take on holiday to throw on over a bikini and jeans shorts later.
