In my view everyone should have at least one blazer in their wardrobe. I could quite easily make the case for the necessity of owning several. Three would be a good number. A classic black blazer. Another one in an interesting fabric. And one in a different colour. Navy. Or white. Maybe grey. Blush pink perhaps…
There’s no easier way to smarten up your look. Even jeans and a t-shirt can look pulled together with a blazer thrown over the top. And if you wear one to the office when you’re usually casual-to-the-max it gets people thinking you’re interviewing for another job. Which can totally work to your advantage.
Here’s five you can buy on the high street right now. All under £50. Amazing. And reader Lynn, there’s a couple in navy, especially for you!
Off-white blazer, £39.99, Mango
I wish I was one of those people who could wear a white blazer and it be as pristine at the end of the day as it was at beginning. Instead I would throw some foodstuff over it minutes after I’d put it on, and the look would be ruined. For people like me it also comes in black.
You can buy it in off-white here and in black here
The Anna Jacket, £42, Oasis
As someone who favours a casual look I like how the use of jersey makes a blazer, essentially a smart item, look a touch more dressed-down. This one’s available in navy, grey and, unusually, but why the heck not, orange. You could dress it down a notch further by rolling up the sleeves, Miami Vice style.
You can buy it in grey here navy here or orange here
Blazer, £49.99, Zara
When it comes to good-quality, covetable, smart separates at brilliant prices Zara is hard to beat. This single-breasted, single-buttoned blazer comes with the addition of a little piping for interest and you can choose from navy and black.
You can buy it here
Jersey blazer, £24.99, H&M
Another jersey blazer, this time available in black or grey at the bargainous price of £24.99. Ultra slim-fitting in style this is one to wear over an equally slim-fitting vest top or tee.
You can buy it in black here and grey here
Blazer, £24.99, Pull & Bear
Tying with the H&M jacket as the cheapest blazer in our selection, this classic style comes in black, grey and dusty rose. Of course you could wear the sleeves rolled down but I wouldn’t be able to resist rolling them up to reveal the sweet striped lining.

So Lynn, I hope I’ve helped in your search for the perfect navy blazer. Anyone else spotted (or actually bought) any great blazers, navy or otherwise, lately? Any advance on three being the perfect number of blazers? Do share!
I have a very similar white/cream one from Mango and it’s excellent quality, I would recommend it for dressing up black skinnies, especially for summer when the nights get a bit chilly x
Maybe if I was a bit more careful I could do the white blazer thing, I do love the look…
Always struggle with a blazer…always…think it’s because I’m so short they just make me look like I’m playing dress up! And also I feel like Margaret Thatcher in them!
I do like the little cropped jackets Topshop and Zara do but then the man tells me I have to be careful in those – apparently they’re borderline ‘granny chic’ and as much as we love Mary Berry…
x
I’m quite short Pamela and always go for quite fitted styles. Much as I love looser blazers they make me look as if I’m wearing someone else’s clothes! x
I have a lovely very very very pale pink Topshop one, currently being kept ‘nice’ for a couple of weddings but once they’re over I think I will be wearing it a lot.
I have a pale pink blazer too Kathryn and have gotten so much wear out of it over the years!
I have just purchased my best blazer ever, it was from Paris and Banana Republic. It’s black and slim fit and has lovely shouldery detail and is quite short cos I am short and long ones look ridiculous on me! It was also a massive bargain and was reduced to €60 from €180 which made me love it even more cos I wouldn’t have paid the proper price!! I also tried on a gorgeous cream white Kooples one which was equally stunning but given I had already splurged on clothes jewellery and a designer bag it was a touch too far! I do wish I had now it was also in the sales but never mind… X
The perfect black blazer and in the sales? Awesome shopping skills! x
Oooo I do like a good blazer! (am also a bit of a shorty, so no long boyfriend jackets for me either!)
My favourite recent blazer purchase is my New Look floral one!!! yup, floral!!
It is gorgeous & fun – I LOVE it
I also have a cute navy & white striped one from H&M (from a few years ago) which still gets lovely comments! 🙂
Oh & my ultimate blazer purchase…….my silver sequin one!!!!!!!!!
I did say I liked a blazer or two! 😉 xx
I an ridiculously envious of your blazer wardrobe Rebecca! Silver sequin one sounds amaze!
Hehe thank you! Feel quite special….
I think I’m going to have to go for the navy Zara one you know – pay day next week! I have a black Mango one which I bought last month that’s similar to the last one – stripes on the inside and I always have the sleeves rolled up.
In my recent search for a navy blazer I did see a lovely coral one from Mango but I had to rein in my focus! If money was no object of course I don’t think there would be a limit on how many blazers one should have…
Thank you for the fab blazer post 🙂
That’s a pleasure Lynn! The Zara one is a great shape, hope you like it in person, as it were! I agree, I’m not sure there is an upper limit to the amount of blazers person could own…
Ooohhhhh! I have been hunting for a navy jersey blazer to replace an aging one from Next. I have just got back out of bed, put the lights on and got the debit card out to order the Oasis Anna in navy. Fingers crossed it’s the one!
I have a rather lovely heavy navy cotton blazer. Trimmed with white, from Per Una of all places. It was perfect for a Saturday evening business class flight to Singapore. Sadly I’ve out some weight on and it’s a little too tight, but 6lb now shifted and I’m looking forward to wearing it again!
Oh I do hope it is the one Claire! Your navy and white trimmed blazer sounds gorgeous, just perfect for a flight to somewhere fabulous!
