In my head I was going to be spending this past weekend wrapping my last few Christmas presents whilst eating homemade mince pies to a soundtrack of Christmas tunes. This didn’t happen, mostly because my Christmas present shopping has kind of stalled and the only Christmas task I actually got done was writing a stack of Christmas cards, with no mince pies on the side or any kind of festive musical accompaniment. Apologies to friends in Australia, maybe consider the card you receive at some point in January an early Christmas 2015 card, yeah?
If you’re similarly disorganised, at this stage in the game the internet is your friend. To make life easier I’ve compiled a list of the last ordering dates for Christmas delivery from a selection of shops that have you covered for food, gifts and clothes. Of course the sooner you order the less you’ll have to pay. And it’s worth knowing that if you’ve left things REALLY last minute, Amazon are offering a same day evening delivery if you order before 9am on Christmas Eve. I’ve included prices where they are standard. A word of caution however, apparently some stores have a backlog after unexpectedly busy Black Friday sales, so order ASAP and consider the guaranteed/courier delivery option.

Anyone else still got some (or all) of there Christmas shopping to do? Please tell me I’m not the only one!
You’re definitely not the only one Miranda! Having set out with such good intentions to have everything done and dusted by now, a combination of workload, poorly toddler and general life means that I’m still sitting here trying to decide what to get for people! And to add insult to injury it’s my husband’s birthday on Wednesday so have had to think of TWO good presents for him.
I have however bought some really lovey gift wrap, tags and ribbon, just don’t have anything to wrap yet 🙂
I started out with such good intentions too Kim, this happens to me EVERY year! I too have some lovely gift wrap, tags and ribbons so we’re like halfway there, right?!
If anyone is planning on ASOS orders, I would get them in asap. My delivery is now 4 days late and I’m in a grump with them. My planned outfit for the bf’s Christmas party needed for last Friday is still floating about somewhere, boooo. I think they’re having quite a few issues so get orders in quick!
I’m one of those annoying people that have everything bought and under the tree. I always panic if things aren’t done with loads of time to spare. Apart from one evening christmas shopping with a hot chocolate in hand, everything else was done online from my sofa (probably with a glass of wine in hand). What on earth did people do before the internet? x
Thanks for sharing Sian, it sounds like lots of online shops have a backlog. I ordered something from Feel Unique on the 9th, it wasn’t dispatched until the 12th and it arrived with me today. I’ve ordered from them once or twice before and from memory they always dispatched the next day. Definitely order sooner rather than later. How annoying that your outfit didn’t make it in time. Several streets around East London have mid-week late night shopping events, I might head to one of those this week. Hopefully there will be hot chocolate! x
I ordered some things in the Black Friday sales from ASOS and although it did turn up on time in the end, the Hermes tracker was being a nightmare! I tried to contact ASOS on Twitter to find out exactly what was going on but they seem to be absolutely swamped sorting out a whole load of delivery issues. Lots of people paying for next day and nothing turning up – ridiculous!
At least your order did arrive on time in the end Jo but you don’t need the extra stress of not knowing if things are going to turn up on time or not. And how annoying to pay for next day delivery and for your order not to turn up the next day. Grrr.
I have 90% of my presents brought and wrapped now, but I’ve still got a stack of Wedding Thank You cards to finish from September (yes I am going to bride hell), a whole stack of Christmas cards to do, and a set of presents to do! The ones I have left to do are really difficult though, we’ve invited my Dad’s ‘lady-friend’ (they aren’t officially together) and her teenage children to join us for Christmas, but I barely know them so buying them gifts is really hard. I did manage to order the turkey though which was an absolute miracle at this late stage *phew* x
At least you have the turkey ordered Gracie and the majority of your presents sorted. It’s so hard to buy for people you don’t know very well, I usually go with vouchers, but even then it helps to have a list of favourite shops to work with… x
I’m all sorted with the buying – it’s the wrapping I’m going to struggle with! I’ve been away with work the past fortnight & don’t get back up the road until Friday. My husband has kindly invited people to stay the weekend & I’m working right up to Christmas Eve… Ny current plan is chuck everything in a gift bag?! Not quite what I’d planned!
Much better to save yourself stress and go the gift bag route Lynsey!
I’m always pretty organised so I’m done and starting to deliver presents (sorry, not deliberately trying to sound smug), but I did order a jumper from New Look last week and paid for next day delivery only to get a text from Yodel saying that due to back logs my parcel would arrive 24 hours later. I think I would be a bit skeptical of ordering in time for Christmas now
Hmm, sounds like it would be safest to order in the next day or so and have a backup plan just in case Claire…
Thanks so much for your post, much needed reassurance provided!!
I was beginning to think I’m the only person in the world who isn’t sorted for the festive season, feeling more than panicked!! Currently Zero presents purchased and haven’t began to think about Food supplies…. Every year I dream of being the ‘I finished mine in November kinda person!’… Next year definitely
Tonight’s the night for online shopping with a glass of vino to calm the nerves I think
Pleasure. Sounds like a good plan Helen!
Finished the last bits of my present wrapping last night *smug face*. We’re posted in Germany with the forces though so our last delivery dates were a little earlier as parcels take extra time to get through the BFPO system. Haven’t even thought about what we’re eating on Christmas Day yet (I’ve bought some mince pies, it’s a start) but the food shops here don’t seem to get manically busy around Christmas – last year I braced myself for crowds and queues when I popped to the shops to get the last few perishables the day before Christmas Eve (most shops are closed Christmas Eve as that’s when Germans celebrate and open gifts etc) and there were only three other custovers in the shop! They even opened another till for us as there was one person ahead of us in the queue – I’m not sure what their secret is but I wish they’d share it! 😉
Wish I was that organised! Christmas shopping in Germany sounds very civilised. I love hearing about the different traditions in other countries and stollen is one of my favourite imported Christmas foodie traditions!
One thing I would point out about the delivery dates, They probably will refuse to deliver next day even if you clicked on next day delivery just cos you are in the “highlands” Scotland. This is one of my bug bears about the delivery companies, they always claim that I live in highlands so will cost extra or come later than it will. I dont even live in highlands, I live in North East Scotland! Their map skills are way off! So for the scottish people that lives in highlands or near aberdeen area to be wary of the delivery dates!
Oh no, that must be so frustrating Shona
