As someone who would wear sporty styles all day, every day if I could (I’m a Sagittarian, it’s my zodiac destiny) I’m very happy about the enduring popularity of the sportswear trend. Mostly because I like to be comfortable and ready for a yoga class at a moment’s notice.
Pretty much every high street store has a sportswear range these days. I particularly like H&M and Mango’s brilliantly-priced and super-stylish sporty offerings. And my most favourite buys from the mainline high street ranges have a sporty edge. These are the pieces I’m lusting after right now…
Sweatshirt, £22, ASOS
Hopefully summer’s not over yet so I’ve got at least a couple of weeks of wearing this jumper with jeans shorts or one of those swingy pleated chiffon skirts with bare legs before I have to bring out the long trousers and tights.

Anorak, £34.99, H&M
Whilst I do like Pina Coladas, I don’t like getting caught in the rain, but August’s unpredictable weather means that I’ve gotten soaked in a shower while out on my bike more than once recently. Packing this water repellant hooded anorak in my rucksack would mean I was prepared, whatever the weather has in store.

Air Max Lunar 1, £105, Nike
Trainer-wise, I’ve flirted with Puma and Adidas, but I always come back to Nike. I like the feeling of walking on air you get from a pair of Air Max and these remind me of the first pair I ever owned.

Velour trousers, £19.99, Zara
The wide black side stripe maximises the sporty look of these relaxed velour trousers. You could wear them them with a big jumper for a weekend of hibernation or with a vest top, leather jacket and wedge trainers if you have to leave the house.

Hooded t-shirt, £27.99, Mango
I already have several grey marl hoodies in my wardrobe but there’s always room for one more, right? This one nails that post yoga cool down, chilling out at home on a weekend look that I can’t get enough of.

Bloody ‘ell Miranda, why do you always curate such fabulous garments when I am looking for EXACTLY those types of things?!
I threw out my entire “old” gym wardrobe in a stroppy fit last week. All I’m left with is a shameful pair of seen-better-days Topshop leggings ( I had to keep something for pilates!)
I need trainers and I love Nike. I also just did a huge Zara order but didn’t see this joggers?!
And the Mango top…..I need it!!!
Isn’t the Mango top gorgeous? I love the little holes for your thumbs so you can keep your hands warmer on chillier days. I’m in the grip of a serious Nike addiction right now. It doesn’t help that Nike Training Club classes are actually in the store, so I see all the new stuff when I go to class, I have to be very strong not to buy something every week! Will definitely be trying on the Zara joggers next time I’m in Westfield. Probably later today…!
I’m with Charlotte on this – I might have to avoid RMS on days which aren’t pay day!!! I’m loving Nike at the moment too, your post last week prompted me to buy a new sports bra and vest from Nike (I got the pink version of the vest you posted about). I’m trying to convince myself that with nice new gym clothes I’ll do better at the gym…I’ll be interested in the results!!
PS. Need both the ASOS sweatshirt and the Mango top!!
Having new sportswear definitely makes me more likely to actually leave the house and go do some exercise, whether I do better when I get there or not is another matter. I’m lusting after a pair of Nike Free at the moment. They’re £150. But they’re light as a feather. I’m sure I’ll be able to work harder at Nike Training Club if I invest in them…!
Oh no… that Mango grey hoodie – me want me want! Now is not a good time – holiday just booked, still a third of Edinburgh festival to go….. no no no to shopping….! Maybe on pay day haha.
Edinburgh festival and a holiday coming up, how exciting Lynn! Definitely wait until payday, then if you still want it, go for it!
