All hail the sun! As I sit here writing it is streaming in through my window and giving me life! There is something about it that makes everything feel all that more exciting and promising. Today I’m bringing you a roundup of my favourite summer swimsuits.

I really want to find a good one-piece swimsuit – for practicality above anything else. I’ve placed my order of a few suits and wanted to share all my faves (and those of the team) that cover a range of super fun and pretty but also practical. Hopefully I can introduce you to a few new brands or enlighten you on brands you already love but didn’t realise they had a swimwear offering. Here goes.

Let’s start with super pretty. I was actually out shopping for Anthony at the weekend (any excuse right!) and I happened upon the swimwear section in River Island. It is all so bright and pretty. They’re very young and playful – maybe too young for me but hell – they’re worth a try right? I’m loving the waist detail on the red floral stripe waist swimsuit and the pastel shades in the purple floral print piece are so fun and fresh – detachable straps for the win too.

If we’re talking fun prints (and a very well rated brand) we definitely need to talk about Sea Folly and how much I love their desert tribe swimsuit (they also do a blue version). Lisa recently bought this polka dot number from Joules (I have subsequently ordered the tankini version of it to see what the deal is with one of those.) And the lovely Lauren has this from Next which gives the illusion of a tankini – she loves that you can adjust the sides to suit where you want the top to sit and it comes in several prints.

ASOS never fails does it? On my ordered list and way budget friendly is the Vero Moda floral swimsuit. The print, the colour, the ruffles, the sale. You know I love a sale find. The back of this Ripcurl palm print suit is gorgeous. The front is uber practical and then boom – SO fit from the back.

My current swimsuit is black. Not sure you can go wrong with black or darker colours to make you feel together and not everyone loves a flamboyant pattern. I do like a darker pattern though be it stripes or animal prints. We’re back to ASOS for this high neck number. I love the subtle piping detail and the shape of it – this is the first of a few more covered up pieces I’ve found that are still so flattering. How about adding a bit of length to your body with this stripy get up from Whistles? Who wants more sale steals? And a bit of designer luxury? This Stella McCartney number is 45% off currently at The Outnet and I love it. The straps, the print… the waist detail?! It’s (very sadly) out of budget for me but please tell me one of you can buy it and wear it for me? The suit I have high hopes for? This one from Calvin Klein. I own a few pieces of CK underwear and they fit, wear and wash so well I would hope for the same from their swimwear range. I love the blue shade too.

And then there’s the sports brands. I feel keen to have one that’s a bit more robust as well as having a pretty one (although these days with the sports brands you can get both in one suit which is excellent). I’d like to get into doing some lengths on holiday and I mentioned in my last post about working out how I’d like to start swimming alongside when Leo has his swimming lessons so having something really sturdy is important.  Speedo has this gorgeous blue and black suit with orange waist belt – now that combination of colours sounds pretty horrific but they look great and I reckon with it’s body sculpting technology it will look fabulous. Also in my bag is this Nike cross back one-piece. The back os so cool and I love that cyan blue. Another fave from Nike is this neon print suit – such fun and fabulous colours. I’m really drawn to Nike aren’t I? This for me is the ultimate classic; totally functional, budget friendly but still with great back detail.

I’m going to leave you with two pieces that are perfect for those of you who perhaps don’t like to have too much flesh on display, don’t like too much sun exposure or simply have skin too sensitive to be exposed to the sun. ASOS are back with their own graphic palm print suit with little short sleeves. Super budget and sun friendly and then finally we go to Ripcurl Boyleg surfsuit. Would you look at the glorious pattern on that. I am a massive fan of what Ripcurl is offering. There is definitely something for everyone in their range.

So that’s my round up. Is there any brands I have missed that I need to know about who are doing amazing things in swimwear? There are so many amazing Australian brads out there but import taxes?! Yikes. And where do you sit on the swimsuit budget? Are you happy to splurge on something you might only wear a few times a year? Or do you prefer to go cheaper and renew annually? Tell me everything!
