Well obviously I’m looking forward to Christmas Day, that goes without saying but there’s a whole load of other festive excitement I’m getting excited about too. Last December was about hospital appointments and packing boxes but this year it’s looking much, much brighter.
- James and I are off to Blenheim Palace this weekend to take in their after dark festive trail through the Parkland of the Estate. It’s going to be super cold but hopefully so Christmassy.
- I clearly can’t get enough of Stately Homes as my mum, sister and I are also going to Chatsworth soon where the house has been decked with a Nutcracker theme. Their previous themes have been Narnia, Alice in Wonderland and Wind in The Willows so I’m really looking forward to the 2016 incarnation.
- I’m also giddy about my annual ‘Mrs Moet’ gathering, a somewhat confusing name considering we actually drink prosecco. My mum commented after my sister and I both got married how it was a shame all the girly celebrations we’d had were over. Now we have yearly event where my mum, sister, bffs and I recreate all the excitement and cork popping that happens in the run up to a wedding, just this time it’s before Christmas instead.
- Like many of you I’ll be catching up with family and friends this month and cannot wait to meet one of the newest arrivals to the clan, the very gorgeous Oliver.
- If that wasn’t enough, I am seriously looking forward to some downtime between Christmas and New Year. It’s been the busiest year yet and it’ll be great to get some time to relax before one whopper of a celebration on NYE at a gorgeous wedding.
How’s the final month of the year looking for you? What have you got planned before 2016 bids us farewell?
That all sounds fabulous Lauren! I’m so pleased this Christmas will be s happier one for you and your family.
We went to Westonbirt Arboretum last weekend for their Enchanted Christmas walk through the most beautifully lit wood. It’s our special Christmas tradition, as we’ve visited for eight years and my husband proposed there six years ago. Last night we went to the Spectacle of Light at Sudeley Castle, so I obviously can’t get enough of the festive lights!
I turn thirty next Sunday, so that’s on my mind currently. I have no idea what I’m doing – no one will tell me, so that’s very exciting (and terrifying for the control freak in me)!
We’re also off to cut down and collect our Christmas tree today- we always get one from a sustainable tree plantation in Herefordshire; you can visit in November to choose it and put a cute little tag on it, then you return to cut it in December. I just love the idea of making traditions that we might be able to pass on one day to any children we may have in the future.
Hope you have a lovely weekend! Xx
Sarah, Westonbirt Arboretum sounds absolutely magical. A gorgeous spot for a proposal too!
I had no idea about the festive trail at Blenheim. Thanks for the heads up – will just try and persuade hubby to go now!
Hi Kate, we enjoyed it, though it wasn’t really that Christmassy. A really good effort to say it’s their first year x
Lauren, I absolutely love the idea of your ‘Mrs Moet’ gathering!! I am going to have to introduce this to my friends and family!! xx
