September is always bittersweet for me. It’s my birthday month (hooray!), but it’s also got that back-to-school/end-of-summer vibe.
- Mrs Soeno senior, my mum, has just landed in London (she lives in New Zealand). To say I am excited to spend a bit of time with her during her visit, and for her to see Lyra, is a massive understatement.
- One of the things we’ve got planned with ma mere is a weekend away to a sleepy little village in Provence. Please, please, please Lyra be good on the flight. I’m all over Lottie’s post about flying with kids over on Rock My Family.
- We’ve got two weddings this month and I cannot wait for either of them. One’s a classy Cotswolds affair and the other’s a raucous two-day shindig at an Irish castle.
- And in preparation for said weddings, I’m having my hair-did. My hairdresser is the sweetest guy and since having Lyra I consider that one-hour pampering session every few months to be such a treat.
- If you haven’t seen Stranger Things yet, then you need to get it on your to-watch list now. It’s kind of a mish mash between The Goonies, The Breakfast Club, Super 8, Stand By Me, and E.T. and it may well be the best TV show I’ve ever seen. We’ve got one episode left and I can’t wait to get stuck in at some point. Even if it does give me nightmares.
What have you lovely lot got planned for September? According to one of the brides of the aforementioned weddings, September is statistically sunnier than August, so let’s make the most of it!
Lisa, your September sounds ace! How bloody lovely that you mama is here. Happy September sweet xxx
On my way to see her now Laura, very excited 🙂 Hope you have a good September too xx
Happy September! It’s my birthday month too – I’m turning 40, how the **** did that happen! I thought I’d be having a big shindig but on my 39th birthday I found out I was pregnant so now have a beautiful 3 month old son. So instead we’re having a family holiday to Devon and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Aw congratulations Sophie L! What a lovely 39th birthday surprise. And how times change when you have kids 🙂
Have a really lovely time and happy 40th X
I hope the stats are right as I’m off to Cornwall for a week. Really looking forward to it. Start with a night in Chagford, Devon followed by 3 nights in Fowey, 3 nights in Porthleven and finishing with a night in Lynmouth. Got lots planned – Eden project, Minack theatre, boat trip etc… All will be so much nicer with a bit of sunshine (or at least no rain). Keep your fingers crossed for me x
Very nice! Doing a sun dance for you 🙂
Yes yes yes to Stranger Things! We’ve finished the whole series in one epic Netflix Sunday the other week! Definitely agree it’s like a cross between The Goonies and Pan’s Labyrinth! You’ll be pleased to hear it’s been confirmed for a second series! 😀
Best. News. Ever. ?
I’m finally going to get round to watching Stranger Things this week! I’ve kind of been saving it. Also, I’m excited about a free Open University fiction writing course I’m doing through FutureLearn – I don’t think it starts until October but there are some bits and bobs to be getting on with. Also, I’m getting my first full-time pay packet after five years of self-employment. That’s going to feel good!
I hope you are going to treat yourself with your pay packet Annie!
Fiction writing course sounds amazing, good on ya. And enjoy Stranger Things! X
Oh yes. There will be shoes!! xx
