Indigo, dark blue, navy. Call it what you like. I love it. Strictly speaking indigo is a colour between blue and purple on the visual spectrum, while dark blue is, well, dark blue. However you know what I’m getting at here, I’m talking about the hue that’s everywhere at the moment; the inky, midnight, dark, moody and sober shade of blue.

In my own home I’ve slapped it on my front door, a chest of drawers and more recently on my china cupboard as part of my dining room makeover. I’m seriously tempted to paint my bath with Farrow and Ball Railings but so far haven’t got round to it. Truth be told I wrote abut this interiors trend back on my own blog a couple of years ago but it shows no sign of going away.

Walls

If, unlike me, you’re brave and would like to add to your walls then I’ve included a gallery of my favourite shades. Some are more grey, others distinctly more purple. All are delicious, sumptuous and oh so very elegant. If you hover over any of the images below you’ll find the brand and shade name.

Accents

For the shy, more retiring types, this little decor collection shows you can add a dark blue or blueish-black accent instead and still get maximum impact. Those stairs? Be still my beating heart. You can see a hint of copper in the image of the staircase too; gold, copper, brass looks stunning with these moody shades.

If painting or tiling is still a bit too much then hit the internet and grab yourself one or two of these beauties to add a splash of indigo to your abode. We even have a pinterest board dedicated to the blue colour scheme.
Have you added any moody blues to your home? What’s your favourite shade and how are you using it?
