I have a long and growing list of boring but necessary practical house-related things to do. Think extending the leasehold, painting over stains left by the roof leak, replacing that rubber stuff around the bath and, yawn, I nearly fell asleep typing. So, obviously, I’m not doing any of those things and instead I’m thinking of pretty ways to spring-ify my flat (can you tell I’m quite excited to say goodbye to winter?!).
Pile On The Pattern
I’ve had all-white-everything bedlinen for as long as I can remember. It’s a classic look and I love it but lately I’ve been thinking it looks a little boring. An injection of colour and pattern is what’s needed. Rather than go the whole hog and buy a patterned duvet and pillow set – I have two perfectly good white sets that I alternate – I just want a couple of pillowcases to mix things up. These delicate floral print ones from Toast are pretty without being prissy. Just what I’m looking for.

Light Up The Night
Candlelight is for life, not just for Christmas, said, well, no one, but they should have done. Candles work all year round. Citrus candles are the perfect match for spring evenings and outdoor (or indoor) tables on summer nights need no more adornment than tea lights in jam jars (although fresh flowers are nice too, of course). These blush pink candles from Cox & Cox are quite the prettiest candles I’ve ever seen.

Add A Quirky Accessory
We’re partial to pineapples at Rock My Style and this jewellery box in the shape of our fave fruit (at least to decorate our homes, t-shirts, stationery… you get the picture) is a beaut. I haven’t actually owned a jewellery box since I was a little girl and had one of those musical ones with a twirling ballerina inside – my accessories are currently tangled up in various boxes and bags in the bathroom and subsequently rarely get an outing. My trinkets need this.

Adorn The Walls
The walls in my second-bedroom-soon-to-be-office are looking very bare. I’m planning a mostly black and white colour scheme so these prints from Bodie and Fou will fit right in. Even better they remind me of two of my favourite cities and will provide daily travel inspiration (not that I need much encouragement!).

How are you planning to spring-ify your home? As always, feel free to share below.
The sunny, warm(ish), spring weather has really perked me up and it makes me want to do something to the house. I want to turn my spare bedroom into a sewing room/office. I’m thinking pale, neutral walls with splashes of bright colours in pictures. I love bright, zingy citrus colours. I will be turning an alcove into a cupboard to hide all the junk so I will be looking for a quirky door handle too.
A spring makeover is not complete without fresh flowers. I recently had a vase full of yellow, pink and purple tulips. Beautiful!
I love the idea of a sewing room/office Claire and your colour scheme sounds fab. You’re right, spring is all about flowers, I’m so lucky to have Columbia Road flower market not too far away. I do a yoga class there most Sundays and sometimes treat myself to a bunch of tulips after class, they’re such cheery flowers!
