I realise the title implies I’ve just bought myself a couple of new houses, when it fact I’m referring to the bits and pieces I’ve been buying for my cottage recently.

Marble Candle

You may remember in my recent interiors trends post I mentioned I planned to add some marble to my pad. I recently got my hands on H&M’s marble candle (and also their 5x7inch photo frame too). The pine scent is invigorating though I have to admit I bought this wax delight for its packaging. It’s a pleasant surprise I rather like the fragrance.

Rather annoyingly this particular candle has sold out but I know H&M often get items back in stock so worth keeping an eye out if you’d like to get your hands on one.

Copper Bowl

Okay so this little beauty is actually iron coated in copper but the effect is impressive. It’s the perfect size for stashing a load of tealights to keep them close at hand. Once again, this item seems to have been removed from the John Lewis website but I definitely saw it in my local store last week!

Trinket Tray

I love a good tray to corral collections together. As I’ve been putting the final touches to my downstairs bathroom I wanted a slimline tray to put on the window sill to gather together a candle, matches and a little plant. It’s a skinny little space so most of the trays I found would have hung over the sill so instead I searched for a rectangular plate. This Wilko serving plate is actually designed to hold a trio of desserts but now it holds a trio of bathroom essentials instead, including these super long camel matches (picked up from Sheffield Boutique Collard Manson). At £2.50 these dishes are such good value they come in and out of stock regularly.

Betty Jackson Bathroom Ware

I was hunting for a small rug for the bathroom and after a fruitless search realised a bath mat would fit the small space perfectly. Well it is a bathroom after all…
This Betty Jackson mat is described as grey on the Debenhams website but I’d say it’s more of a bluey-greyish tone. I love the woven diamond pattern and the tasseled fringing which add a little bit of boho glam. I prefer to steer away from the matchy-matchy look so I was also happy to find Betty Jackson also offers a chevron towel in the same colour way too.

What have you been buying for your home recently? Any little treasures or great finds you’d like to share?
