With the Olympics taking place in Rio this summer, the shops have gone crazy for exotic jungle prints.

I’m such a fan of a palm print that I made a feature wall in our bedroom using the Cole and Son Palm Jungle Wallpaper in soft grey on white (our bedroom is on the left in the above slider, the one on the right was my Pinterest inspiration). It completely transformed the room…Rich commented that it was like stepping into a boutique Miami hotel. Not the look I was going for, but I’ll take it 🙂

But the tropical trend is not restricted to interior décor. There are also a million dresses, tops and accessories that I am currently coveting…

Fashion

Let’s start with my pick of the tropical bunch. This shirt dress from Asos. The cute palm pattern is just to die for. I’ve got a plain white shirt dress in a similar style and it’s the most versatile item ever…perfect thrown over a bikini or worn over skinny black trousers and cinched in with a belt. There’s not many clothes that you can wear on the beach or in the office but this may be the exception.

Another casual palm print dress that you could dress up or down is this T Shirt dress from PrettyLittleThing. At only £15 it’s an absolute bargain but they are selling like hot cakes so snap one up soon if you want one.

Did you catch Lorna’s fab post about the cold shoulder trend? This shirt dress from Topshop exposes just a flash of shoulder and has a cute twist detail on the sleeve. As per usual, I am obsessed with everything else Topshop at the moment. This long sleeved shirt in particular is just amaze. The electric blue hue is completely not what you would expect on a palm print pattern. And I NEED these shorts for the gym/netball/my recently reinstated love of cycling.

Mango has also embraced the tropical trend…you can’t go wrong with this vest for under a tenner and if you fancy making a political statement then this tee may just be for you.

Zara have also got serious palm print game. I’m all over this jacquard palm tree frock coat – I bought a Zara jacket in a similar shape for the winter and got so many lovely compliments about it. I particularly love the just-right ¾ length sleeve. The rest of your outfit can be simple as you please. And I couldn’t resist including a couple of palm print pieces for the little’uns…this sequinned tee and quilted grey hoodie are cute as a button.

There are a LOT of uber cool palm patterned rucksacks out there at the moment. My favourite is this ‘Let’s Squawk’ duffle backpack from Paperchase. I also need this ‘It’s Le Weekend’ holdall for the exciting weekend breaks that I’ve got planned this summer.

Finally on the fashion front, as wedding season is now in full swing, I thought it was only right to include a stunner of a dress from John Lewis. If you’ve been invited to a wedding or similar posh do and are on the hunt for a fancy frock then look no further. I adore the racer back, the flared hem and the subtle shimmer of the material.

Interiors

Ok so my aforementioned Cole and Son wallpaper, however pretty, is quite pricey. So when I stumbled across this Honolulu wallpaper from House of Fraser I kicked myself as it’s very similar in appearance, but at £20 per roll, it’s A QUARTER OF THE PRICE. Currently praying Rich doesn’t read this post. I also need to keep it a secret from him that this palm-tree jewellery stand and suitcase shelf might have recently fallen into my online basket…

On a much more practical level, how lush are these La Selva Palm dinner plates from John Lewis? They will definitely be adorning my outdoor table this summer. John Lewis are killing it with their palm print selection at the moment…they never fail to be on point with their homewares and I am lusting after the majority of their Botanical Brights edit.

And as for beautifying my walls, I have fallen head over heels for this Botanic Print from Trouva. There’s several prints in the range and they are just crying out to be hung on our bedroom wall. The colour scheme of our bedroom is dark grey and white but I reckon adding these prints and maybe an actual little palm plant (if I can keep it alive) would bring some colour and depth.

Are there any other botanical buys out there that I’ve missed? Will you be adorning your walls or yourselves in a palm print pattern this summer?
