As my wardrobe becomes increasingly pared-back (mostly tees in black, shades of grey and white, and skinny jeans in black, grey and blue denim) I’m craving accessories to add colour and pattern. Luckily there are plenty of options on the high street. Here’s ten that are on my wish list…
Carry A Colour Pop Clutch
A quick and practical way to give a plain outfit a shot of colour is with a bag (because we need to carry our stuff in something, right?). This bright orange Topshop Snake Effect Zip Clutch is big enough for a night out or to keep your most important stuff safe on a day of sightseeing. The wrist strap and detachable shoulder strap only add to its multi-use potential.
Keep The Sun Off With a Trilby
I’m a massive fan of a trilby for summer. They’re not too girly and, unlike most hats, they actually suit me. The striped ribbon around this Oasis Trilby just makes me love it more because, well, stripes – I know we’re all fans here.
Wear Boots All Year Round
Apart from on the very hottest of days I’ll happily wear boots in summer, particularly if I know I’m going to be out in the evening. They give me the height that flip flops don’t, look cute with maxi dresses or shorter skirts and shorts and are the perfect cover up if your pedicure’s past its best or, er, non-existent. These Mango boots tick the trend for summer suede and will see you into Autumn.
Throw On A Summer Scarf
I know what you’re thinking. A scarf? For summer?! That’s exactly what I thought until I started browsing my favourite high street stores and kept seeing colourful printed scarves like this floral print scarf from Mango that looks awesome when slung just so over a plain tee.
Cinch Loose Tops With A Belt
Easy, breezy, loose fitting tops are my summer go to, but sometimes I want to look like I’ve got a waist. Warehouse’s eyelet wrap belt, which you can buy in tan here and in black here, is a simple, stylish take on summer’s obi belt trend.
Paint Your Nails Hot
Summer’s not the time for subtle barely-there nude shades for nails, which is why I’m loving OPI’s brightly coloured Hawaii collection. My favourite’s Aloha, the perfect orangey pink for beach-ready toes.
Cultivate An Air Of Mystery In A Floppy Hat
I’m not sure I could carry off this fabulous Tophop floppy hat, although my little sister, who suits every type of hat, so unfair, definitely could. Still, I’m willing to give it a try. For maximum mysterious starlet style a pair oversized sunnies would be a must.
Try A Tassel Necklace
Lauren and I are both loving tassel necklaces, summer 2015’s neck candy update. This Warehouse multi row coin tassel necklace looks like you’ve layered several necklaces in a very stylish fashion when all the hard work’s been done for you.
Bling Up Your Phone
Upgrading my 4s to an iPhone 6 is on my to do list and, when it’s done, I’ve got my eye on this Marc By Marc Jacobs case from Selfridges.
Get Superhero Style
Ever since Charlotte’s beachwear post I’ve been furiously bookmarking kimonos and coverups. I love this black and pink patterned Oasis cape because, well, who wouldn’t want to wear a cape?! Also it’s the perfect piece to transition you from beach to beach bar.

My fave accessories purchase for the summer (so far) has to be my block heel sandals. Super comfy and easy to wander around in, but give you good height too.
I had my eye on a gorgeous pair in Whistles for 200 sheets, but then found an almost identical pair in Next for 50 quid! Bargain.

Ooh, fab find Karen!
I LOVE that Oasis Kimono cape thing! I obviously need it for my next holiday right?!
I was thinking exactly the same except instead of needing it for a holiday I was just thinking I need it for right now? Stupid saving up. X
It would work for right now too Alex! x
Yes, yes you do!
I. Need. That. Bag!
Me too Claire!
I love the scarf. I am a big fan of scarves and florals so it’s perfect combination for me. I have just bought a lipstick that is the same colour as the nail varnish – it is a an Avon one in Bold Coral from their new Ultra Colour range. I’ve worn it once and it lasted really well and had a pretty good texture. It is definitely good value for money around £5. I may also have to get their Bold Fushia too.
It’s so pretty isn’t it? Ooh, thanks for the lippie recommendation, looking for a bold shade for summer!
I waaaant that kimono. It’s so pretty and PRETTY. I actually need to pull together my ‘trousseau’ (basically a few tops and shorts from boohoo.com) for my honeymoon but, really, a kimono is an essential item. Socks, pants, kimono…
Haha yes, kimonos are definitely a honeymoon essential Kate!
Love the bag!!
It’s fab isn’t it?!
That bag though….. 🙂 🙂 Orange is my fav colour (she says wearing an orange tee shirt!)
Love the scarf as well!
I have a request … do you think you can pop the price beside each item so it’s easy to see at a glance? I think you used to do this. Might be a reason why it’s changed.
Hi Lynn, I love orange too! I usually do include the prices in the headlines but there were getting a bit long in this instance, will include in the main copy if they don’t fit in the headline in future.
Thanks 🙂
