February will always be one of my favourite months; granted most people see it as the final hurdle of a long, drawn-out, grey Winter, but for me it brings promise, excitement and usually the first of the snowdrops if they haven’t appeared already.
It’s also the month of love (yes I’m a diehard Valentine’s fan!) and I also celebrate my birthday in February too so this coming month signifies the beginning of a new year for me in a very different way to the conventional celebrations of 1st January.
- To celebrate my birthday and also my parents’ wedding anniversary we’ll be taking a long and hopefully relaxing weekend trip to the Cotswolds staying at The Wild Rabbit for a few nights and visiting nearby Daylesford. We know the area quite well but if any of you have must see recommendations for toddlers then I’d love to hear them.
- I’ve already mentioned that I’m beyond excited about Valentine’s Day but I’m not one to be dazzled by ridiculously overpriced roses and chocolates for the sake of it. In fact my most treasured Valentines ended up being Ste and I eating chips in the back of his van when our table was double booked. It was the funniest and romantic evening so I look forward to seeing what Ste has planned for this year.
- House renovations continue afoot and February will bring hopefully the completion of the upstairs of the house with the exception of carpets. I’m looking forward to kickstarting this year’s Rock My Room challenge with you all too. Stay tuned for more information on this.
- Over the Christmas break I chose to step away from the phone (mostly Instagram!) and indeed any electronic device in favour of spending more quality time with my boys. It definitely did the trick but we didn’t want to miss out on capturing the festive spirt completely. Instead I bought a tonne of black and white disposable cameras which I’ve sent off this month to be processed. I’m all giddy with anticipation at receiving the films back in February to pour over…it’s almost like being sixteen again and picking up your photos from Boots!
- And lastly I can’t not mention how excited the whole team is about the publication of the Rock My Wedding book written by our founder Charlotte O’Shea which is released this month on 9th February. It’s jam packed full of the most wonderful inspiration and makes the perfect gift for those friends getting married. You can preorder your copy from Amazon by clicking here.
What have you got planned for the second month of 2017? Can you believe that January is almost over already?? We’d love to hear your exciting plans for February…
The Wild Rabbit looks like a lovely place to stay, stylish & family friendly, will have to remember that one!
Hi Nicola we’ve eaten there before and the food was delicious and I was desperate to stay when we visited last. I’ll be sure to Instagram some snaps of the rooms when we stay xx
What about that daily planner in the header umage? I am still without a 2017 planner and slowly (quickly) going mad! Any suggestions? Most diary reviews are American, so a British one would be great, by the way!
Hi Jen – the planner is fantastic! You can find them over at http://www.hellodayplanner.com …hope that helps!
I like February- it’s both V-day and my husband’s birthday so nice and reciprocal with spoiling each other. I love all the little signs of spring too, seeing my garden think about coming back to life. Still waiting for listed building consent and their response deadline is the 2nd so hopefully we can join in rock my room in a big way with one of the farmhouse rooms. And of course, by the end of the month I will be nearly 38 weeks gone or could have had #2 (scary thought!)
Have a great month, chips in the van or champagne on ice x
Love the idea that February is your ‘spoiling each other’ month. I’ve been so thrilled this weekend..the first of my snowdrops have appeared and it took everything to stop myself picking them and popping them into tiny bud vases as it’s such a shame to remove everything from the garden. I’ve been keeping everything crossed for you on the building consent side of things so keep us updated both on the barn and on the baby side of things. I’m so excited for you!
