For many years grey and white has been my Christmas colour scheme; from white honeycomb balls to grey baubles I’ve been slowly building up a stash of Christmas decor, introducing a bit of a deviation with a splash of copper in 2015.
I’m not sure anyone can afford to change all their decorations each year but I get all giddy at the thought of adding new bows and baubles to my already bulging collection. Every year I tell James I’m going to have a sort out, however every year an even larger box gets packed away in to the loft.
I know it called be called contrived but I do like a hint of a ‘scheme’ for each room, otherwise I imagine I would just buy up the whole of HomeSense. The current plan is to resurrect the grey and white theme from years gone by in the living room, then a gold and jewel theme for the new snug, finishing off with whatever copper trinkets are left in what I hope will be a just completed dining room.
No room is spared from a bit of a trim – as you can see in the header image my old bathroom spent much of it’s life looking like it’d been submerged in a blizzard.
Do you have a colour scheme or a decor theme? Rustic, scandi, traditional or perhaps all-out glam? What’s your favourite colour or style to deck your halls? Also if you’re after a few decorations then do check our Lisa’s recent post rounding up gorgeous trimmings for your home.
I like to have a theme but then I get carried away but this year we’ll be having two trees so hoping to split some of the bits I’ve collected over the years. I have lots of gorgeous jewel baubles from Cox & Cox & some porcelain birds that I want to keep to one tree & am on the hunt for some white & grey bits to go on a bigger tree. Oooh this is making me so excited!! A beautiful Scandi style look would be the dream xx
Oh Emma what a beautiful collection you have. Your two trees are going to be stunners! x
The photos above all look so beautiful! I’m especially in love with that wreath! We have a scandi red, white and grey theme. I would love a grey and white theme, with lots of glass baubles, but with two cats I fear it would be a complete disaster! Xx
Nothing quite as exciting for a cat as tapping or grappling with a bauble!
Red, white and grey is a gorgeous theme x
Yes and no. Not a colour scheme but def a look of rich opulence and strictly only glass baubles – no plastic, wood or metal and no garlands on the tree only baubles. But any size shape or colour and a few new ones sneak in every year! Then more baubles and tea lights no fairy lights all over the mantle piece. As a forestry piney scented candle. Hall is more scandi with a a garland of 24 red and green baby sock in leiu of an advent calendar and lots of greenery. A spicy clove and orange candle scents the hall! The dining room is mixed warm metals with lustred pine cones, more baubles and frankincense candles on glass cake stands on the side board and table and even the chandelier gets some extra baubles!! The mantlepiece in here is packed with candles and copper bronze and gold leaves/ pine cones/ seed heads etc.
This has got me feeling so festive Rachel x
Love it! Such gorgeous pictures. Lauren can you let me know where you got your white honey comb ball decorations and the other white round decorations you have in your bathroom? Thanks x
Thanks Sarah, the snowflakes were from Wilko and the honeycombs were from eBay xx
I call my theme Nordic glam. It’s white, Copper, and grey/silver all mixed up together.
I love Nordic glam!

Hi
This is gorgeous! I realise it’s a few years ago now, but where is the wing chair from?
Many thanks!
