I haven’t been this excited to share a luxe indulgent-yet-completely-necessary product with you since my shiny balls. And that feels like ever such a long time ago. I figured I am well over due some enabling.
Tom Ford’s Shimmering Body Oil ticks all of my summer beauty boxes and then some. I originally went into Selfridges looking for a holiday fragrance, preferably a little bit on the sexy side rather than fresh and easy breezy. I couldn’t find anything remotely suitable and then I stumbled upon this glittering bottle of dreams on my way out of the store.
Obviously I had to have myself a wee spray of the tester – everyone needs shiny collarbones with their beach bandeau non? And Oooh wasn’t it lovely. I felt like a mermaid. The oil is non greasy yet super moisturising and the gold flecks are unbelievably chic. All of a sudden my pale limbs looked way more interesting. Not to mention expensive.
The most important aspect however is the scent, a soft yet warm coconut infused amber-sandlewood and white floral concoction that makes me think of romantic sunsets and island adventures. And it lingers for hours, impressively longer than many other fragrances I have had a getaway liaison with in the past.
You can buy yours for £68 from Selfridges.Yes I know spendy. But it’s a body lotion, tan enhancer, perfume and mermaid maker all in one. Which makes it practically a bargain in my book.
Mermaid maker? Im in!
Ive been making my own summer fragrance as I couldn’t find anything suitable and it sounds remarkably how you describe that fragrance …Amber, sandalwood, coconut and Jasmine (along with a couple of others)
You should try making your own. Super easy, just essential oils and perfumers alcohol.
Its a cross between being a mad scientist and going back to my childhood- crushing rose petals with rain water (cant understand why my mum never wore it and kept it ‘for best’!). And you get your own bespoke scent. Whats not to love?
Alice this sounds fun! I totally used to crush rose petals to make my own scent – not sure I used rain water though…far more romantic than tap. x
Well I bought the shiny balls and you were right about them…so clearly I will need to purchase this too….love sandalwood. Love Selfridges! X
Kate, I am so glad you like the shiny balls as it means I don’t feel the need to apologise for the £68 poorer you shall be after purchasing this equally as shiny oil. You should wear them at the same time – you will shimmer like sequins. x
Want. No, NEED.
I’m starting a Tom Fordaholic Anonymous. Lolly is Vice President.
Ha ha ha. Lolly and I buy each other Tom Ford for birthdays and Christmas. The products make excellent gifts….mainly to yourself 🙂 x
Yey! I’m definitely up for that!
Ooohhh that sounds absolutely amazing! I’m so going to try it!
I’ve just bought the most amazing Tom Ford lipstick and I think this body oil will go really well with it. It’s not really a CHOICE, I just have to!
Kate….yes, you HAVE to.
xx
Charlotte, you’re dangerous! I love beauty products and you keep introducing me to lovely products. After you’re reading your post I ordered this. It arrived yesterday and even the packaging feels uber luxurious. I too have pale skin and often feel pasty in the summer months. This smells gorgeous and feels great on the skin. It has become my main accessory for the summer wedding season. I have hidden the receipt from hubby though, I don’t think he would approve of the price tag. The other product that has made me happy is the hairbrush I won from Bumble & Bumble. I never win competitions but won this. http://www.bumbleandbumble.co.uk/product/13479/33247/Products/Blow-Dry/round-brush/index.tmpl. It has made my hair super shiny and people at work have commented on it.I wouldn’t normally spend that much on a brush but maybe I should. x
Kate! I love it when folks tell us they’ve ordered and subsequently love a product we recommend! So lovely to hear, we shall shine together like mermaids the entire summer. Now then, I guess I’d better investigate that hair brush…..x
