Last week the RMS ladies and Adam congregated for our team meeting. Other than Adam, we were all sporting our favourite summer luxe lip shades and we thought you’d like to take a peek…
Lolly | Dior Sillage
I’m having a moment with Christian Dior lipsticks and purchased ‘Sillage‘ for the summer which even prompted Ste to say how nice it looked! Slightly more intense than my ultimate favourite (Charnelle) Sillage is blessed with a more intense rosebud pink for those days when all you need is a slick of lippy to go with your freshly tanned face. The hue is perfect for that day to night transition and the lipstick itself smells like roses which always makes me smile. I find that Dior products are easy to apply and have a decent longevity factor which is essential for me since it’s not uncommon for me to forget to top up after eating/drinking. I’m also tempted by Rose Bonheur from the brand too…
For those days when I’m after a more neutral matte shade I’ll be reaching for my ‘Velvet Teddy’ by MAC which is a little bit more sophisticated and makes me feel like a proper grown up. Whilst not as buttery smooth as the Dior lipsticks I still rate MAC highly and the slightly chalkier composition works well with this particular shade. I’ve heard good things about MAC’s prep and prime lipstick base so I’m in two minds as to whether to bite the bullet and purchase or not…after all anything that increases a lipsticks stay factor is a winner in my book.
Charlotte | MAC Given In
My favourite lipstick of all time is MAC’s Creme Cup, it’s the perfect pinky/beige nude for every day wear. Recently MAC have bought out ‘Given In‘ a limited edition which is similar – but pulls slightly more peach. Obviously I am OBSESSED and have already bought two back-ups.
Now we’re moving towards the warmer months though I’ve discovered two new brighter hued favourites (I know, I actually have a problem, how many lipsticks does one girl need?). For a velvety matte finish I’m loving Surratt’s automatic lip crayon in ‘Gentillesse‘ – described as a delicate rose. The pigment is excellent and the shape of the crayon’s sculpted tip means you can create a defined shape with minimal effort. This is the first product I’ve bought from this new brand and I can’t wait to try more.
I actually copied my friend Anna when I saw her touch up her Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in ‘Intrépide‘ at a photo shoot recently. A gorgeous sheer orange coral with a hint of pink – perfect for hot days when you still want to look polished.
Lisa | Estée Lauder Melon Shimmer
I know that in our recent post about luxe cosmetics Charlotte mentioned that she doesn’t feel ‘done’ without something on her lips. I didn’t agree, I always felt a little bit painted on wearing lippy…until another visit to my very own beauty enabler, my Auntie Maggie. She presented me with a bag of Estee Lauder goodies (everyone should have an Auntie Maggie in their lives). Cue lots of delighted squeals from both Lyra and I.
The one item in this bag of loveliness that I wasn’t sure about was the Estée Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick in Melon Shimmer. Now I love a coral hue and it’s one of the few colours that makes it into my monochrome-and-grey wardrobe, but on my lips? I was NOT convinced. However my auntie knows her make up so I decided to give it a go. And I am sold. Although the colour looks a bit orange and in-your-face, if you just use a dab it’s actually a lovely subtle, shimmery shade. It feels super moisturising and lives up to its name of being long lasting. But in a nice way – it doesn’t make my lips dry out or feel sticky. Plus, it couldn’t be a more summery shade. I now just need a coral nail polish to match! Any suggestions?
Lauren | Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Boheme
Call me shallow but few material things make me happier than a black and white bag adorned with Chanel ribbons. I love the packaging and the application of a Chanel lipstick but sadly haven’t been that enamoured by the longevity and colour payoff. That is until I discovered Rouge Coco Shine in ‘Boheme’. Now the shade you see on my lips is a sample but let me tell you I went straight out and bagged myself a bullet.
I’m not usually a shine kind of girl but the balm-like texture (which changes to a fluid when it hits the lips) leaves lips hydrated and soft. The bold shade lasts several hours despite eating and a whole lot of sipping so I have to say I’m very impressed. The shade is a strawberry red and while it’s bold, the sheer nature of the formulation makes it easy to wear. On the cheaper end of the scale I do love the easy breezy Maybelline Baby Lips in ‘Cherry Me’. It tastes divine too.
What shades are you wearing this summer? Any new lip discoveries you’d like to tell us all about?

Chanel ‘mademoiselle’ is my current fav. I got it after going to try the much touted ‘Adrienne’ but that was too nude for my skin tone. This is pinkier which is not what I would usually go for but I’m loving it. Still searching for the perfect peachy/coral though, will take a look at Melon Shimmer.
I’d say it’s definitely worth checking out Rachel. It’s lush. Plus, did I mention my Auntie Maggie recommends it? Hee hee x
Bitch Perfect by Charlotte Tilbury, is my current fav. gorgeous colour and doesn’t dry your lips at all. I’m a big fan of all CT makeup X
What a cheeky name Hannah! Charlotte had a stash of CT lipsticks last week and all the shades were delicious x
I found out on holiday that Elizabeth Arden 12hr cream spa lip balm is an amazing lip primer! My matte nyx stays on for hours and hours, even after food and drink. It just helps it soak in somehow ?try it, my lippies never stay on normally ha x
My boots doesn’t stock NYX. Was so disaapointed as I wanted to buy Fire bomb last night!
Thanks for the lip primer tip x
*spf, silly autocorrect!
All so pretty but Lolly I read Sillage as silage and now can’t stop giggling. What a shade that would be!
I now want to go lippie shopping…
Ha ha! I know! When Lolly first mentioned the name I thought the same. Apparently the terms sillage relates to how fragrance lingers in the air. The extra ‘l’ makes all the difference! x
Hmmmmmm love a bit of animal feed on my lips in the morning…yes I was exactly the same and thought what an odd name for a lipstick until I realised my mistake!
That’s a lovely photo of you all! I’m a woman of extremes when it comes to lipstick – either bare lips or bright red – but I’m tempted to investigate some of the lovely shades mentioned. I’m currently on maternity leave (baby is 6 weeks old) so generally am rocking the unwashed hair/ puffy eyes look but a quick slick of lippy is a quick way to feel a bit more human again!
Big congrats on the new arrival Sophie. You definitely deserve a new lipstick 😉 x
Congratulations Sophie! I must admit to buying even more lipstick than usual when I’d had Mabel as make-up was a way for me to feel a bit more “done”….whilst wearing leggings and unwashed hair 🙂 x
Now you’ve made it through the 6 week haze you should definitely treat yourself to a new lipstick or two Sophie! x
I picked up MAC mineralise rich while in Canada called Splurge which is a plummy/berry colour. The nearest colour in the UK is Deep Cool Plum. It’s not really an everyday colour but it’s great for a night out! My best friend is a guy and even he complimented me on it when I saw him last week! I love the mineralise lipsticks the colour is really rich and gives amazing coverage.
For daytime I’ve become hooked on Burt’s Bees tinted lipbalm in Fig. Again it is a berry kind of colour but it quite sheer and has almost a hint of bronze in the sheen. It has have eucalyptus tingle too it which for some reason makes me feel quite pouty. But there’s nothing wrong with a pout if you have lipstick to show off!
If a guy commented on it then it’s gotta be good! Also loving the sound of a bronze sheen in the tinted lip balm x
I bought recently MAC Coral Bliss and like it very much. I think it is very summery. My other lippies are MAC Cream Cup and the Clinique Chubby Stick in Supreme Sorbet, which I wear to work etc, as they are not too bright. For going out I recently bought Kat van D Berlin. This stays on your lips forever. As a lipbase I like to use the Carmex Lipbalm, as I think they make my lips smoother.
Ooh Mia is the Kat Van D Berlin the everlasting one?
Iv just purchased a new Chanel coco shine one for summer called romance and it’s lovely! Also Mac relentlessly red is a new summer one for me this year…red but def more pinky red and excellent for going out! I am fairly devastated that on a recent trip away I left coco shine in flirt behind in our hotel! Really sad as it’s a lovely summer shade too!! Can’t imagine they kept it but will ring them and enquire! I also bought a Mac one that was in a big sale and it’s more of a lacquer type thing but glossy and doesn’t budge easily it’s the huggable lip colour and it’s in love beam! Love these posts! X
Oh no…you should definitely ring them to see if they’ve still got it. When I was on holiday earlier this year I left my favourite white shirt dress in the hotel room – I think it was on the white sheets so I just didn’t notice it. I was gutted! x
I left my wedding dress at the hotel and didn’t realise for nearly three weeks because I went on honeymoon straight away ha ha!!!
Claire that is hilarious! Possibly the most expensive left-in-a-hotel-item ever? However I suppose it’s not something you wear every day so you wouldn’t notice until you thought about it! I’m guessing they kept it for you?! x
Luckily they did. I felt like such a plonker!!!
I would not have wanted to be in your shoes going to pick it up. How funny x
I rang and no sign of it! So sad! Luckily my lovely husband says he will buy me another one but still it’s heartbreaking! Now I’m not sure whether to sample a different colour of replace the same one, it was lovely but then I’m a sucker for a new shade lol. I’m terrible at leaving stuff behind its a bit of joke! X
Oh boo. Maybe it was so nice that one of the maids nabbed it! How sweet of your hubbie. I say go for something new 🙂
Thank God for lipstick, what a day!
I’m still in love with the Dior Lip Glow I bought last summer. It’s the most perfect soft pink and makes your lips all pouty and tingly.
Some ace suggestions ladies xx
I wore Dior on my wedding day (dahling) and really didn’t rate it as it lasted about five minutes – must have been all the champers.
Clearly I need to give it another go though!
