If you are looking for a huge dose of interiors inspiration and Christmassy pretty then you’re in for a treat. Tamsin owns Studio Seed, a blinking gorgeous boutique stationery and design studio in Warwickshire, and today she’s showing us around her living room. I for one want everything from both her website and her lounge.
The muted colours. The beautiful vignettes. The glam gold details. Sigh. Without further ado I will pass you over to Tamsin to talk us through it all.
My husband and I bought our gorgeous Victorian property in August 2012 and fell in love with it immediately. We love the high ceilings and period features and the fact that it instantly felt like ‘home’.
The living room is my favourite room in the house, we spend a lot of time in there. I was expecting a resounding ‘no’ when I suggested a pink and grey colour scheme but to my surprise (and delight) my husband agreed! We used Farrow and Ball ‘Pink Ground’ and a Dulux soft grey – I love how in the daytime it looks fresh but in the evening it’s lovely and cosy. Our sofas are from John Lewis and we also have a gorgeous blush pink armchair which unfortunately we have to move out to make way for the Christmas tree – however usually the dog claims this as her own so we never get to sit on it!
We tried to keep the furniture pieces simple, so we have a wooden coffee table from Made.com and some simple wooden cabinets. My husband made our alcove shelving from scratch (he’s from Yorkshire so wouldn’t pay anyone to do it for him!) We also have a few special pieces of artwork, my favourite is the David Downton limited edition ‘Chanel’ print which was a gift from my husband for our First Anniversary (paper!). We also have an original Charlotte Hardy floral painting, and on the shelf above the sofa some prints and another original floral canvas painted by my lovely friend Yvonne. Being a designer I’m a big believer in supporting independent artists.
Most of the soft accessories are from H&M Home including the cushion covers and throws – I currently have an obsession with gold pears (that’s normal, right?!) and I have one from H&M and one from Sainsbury’s. There are always scented candles dotted around as they help me relax after a long day at work.
Christmas is by FAR my favourite time of year and 30th November is officially ‘Christmas Tree Day’ in the calendar in our household… one of the products my company makes is personalised baubles so it’s an occupational hazard that I am infatuated with baubles and pretty Christmas decorations, meaning I go big on the Christmas tree every year!
For Christmas décor I like to keep to a soft gold, ivory and blush palette that works well with the rest of the house. I buy additional baubles every year (it’s my ‘thing’!) and find that Liberty, Fortnum and Mason and M&S generally have the best showstoppers. We have a few special ones on the tree such as the pretty ceramic macaron I bought from New York. I also use sprigs of glittered foliage within the tree to add some extra interest. The gold garland across the mantelpiece is from Next and I’ve added in a sparkly gold wreath to the mirror this year too.
I’m so excited to celebrate Christmas this year and am going to fully appreciate our big tree while I can – we are expecting a baby at the end of February next year so I think our tree may have to be a little smaller next Christmas with a 10 month old hanging around!
Well if that hasn’t got you in the Christmas spirit I don’t know what will! If you want to see yet more pretty from Tamsin then hop on over to Rock My Wedding to see her big day. Just gorgeous.
