Here at Rock My Towers this week we’re in full-on Christmas mode. There has been talk of Polar Express, mini Christmas trees and Mariah. Much debate has been had over the John Lewis v M&S v Sainsburys Christmas advert war. And most excitingly, Charlotte has announced the theme of this year’s Christmas party….‘The Glitterati’. She’s even dedicated a Pinterest board to it. Think metallics, mermaid sequin skirts and glitter lips a la Naomi Campbell-at-the-MTV-VMAs.

As such it seemed only right that today I concentrated on the sparkliest of Christmas essentials…the Christmas lights.

The White Company

I love the simplicity of the bud garland in the header above and it has completely convinced me that I should be decorating our master bedroom with Christmassy sparkle, even if it’s just one of these garlands draped across our chest of drawers. This one is twenty quid which I think is pretty blinking good for The White Company. I’m also tempted by these antique bauble lights and the subtle shimmer that the mercury effect creates.

B&Q

I did not think that I would come across my absolute bargain of the day – in fact it’s got to be the bargain of the festive period – in B&Q, however it has happened. I’ve just ordered three sets of these warm white copper wire lights. At a mere £3 a pop you could afford to put them in every room. They also come in ‘ice white’

Paperchase

ALL of the lights in Paperchase are so much fun. Just look at the little gingerbread man on these copper cookie cutter lights. And as gold-and-white is such a failsafe Christmas colour scheme, I’m all over this sequin star string of lights.

Graham and Green

When Rich and I spent some time travelling we saw so many cotton ball string lights for sale in the markets in Thailand like these ones from Graham and Green. These are my kind of decorations because you could keep them up all year round.

This Modern Life

Another set of lights that you could 100% get away with keeping up all year round is this rainbow pom pom garland from This Modern Life. It fits perfectly into the jewel-toned Christmassy colour scheme that I talked about in my ‘No Tinsel Allowed’ post a couple of weeks ago, and I reckon these would also look great in a monochrome nursery.

Anthropologie

You can always rely on Anthropologie for beautiful and unusual treasures like these rose gold nesting string lights. And if you know anyone who is celebrating something special this Christmas, this matching champagne bottle ornament would make a cute stocking filler.

Are you as excited for Christmas as the Rock My Limited team? Will you be going to any Christmas lights switch-ons? Our local one clashes with Lyra’s parents’ evening so that is going to be one hectic evening!
