I buy interior inspiration books whether I am specifically decorating or not, I just like them. I often put them on display too – in the “coffee table” type sense as they just look….pretty.

Some though I have to admit are far more useful than others, and now I am actually having a home overhaul I am referencing various titles more than ever before.

Here are my current top five picks, please do share yours in the comments box below.

Domino The Book of Decorating

This is Lauren’s favourite, I find the “very important tips” sections they have per room, how to “mix and match” and their “small space solutions” really helpful. Domino is probably the most easy to follow with aspirational looks and trends that are actually achievable.

Domino is written by Deborah Needleman, Sara Ruffin Costello and Dara Caponigro.

Simple Home

Written by interior designers and the owners of one of the greatest interiors stores on the planet Bailey’s Home, this is perfection for anyone who wants to recreate a muted colour palette with a mixture of recycled and industrial finds.

Simple Home is written by Mark and Sally Bailey

Decorate

Co-written by Holly Becker of Decor8 this huge hardback boasts “1000 inspirational design ideas for every room in your house”, I like it best for the accessory aspect and unique ways to make your walls look uber cool with pictures, photos and general bits and bobs.

Decorate is written by Holly Becker and Joanna Copestick

Etcetera etc

My best friend had this and after much hinting I received it for Christmas from her a few years ago, the pages are beautifully styled and the general branding and type is gorgeous, is it that useful? possibly not. But my word you will come away with all sorts of ways to display your scissors.

Etcetera is written by Sibella Court

Pale & Interesting

Ah ha, my favourite of all. If money (and time) was no object my life would hopefully look like something from these glossy pages. Excellent examples of how to use different textures and materials to make your home unique, I blame this book for my unyielding obsession with linen and angle poise lamps.

Pale & Interesting is written by Atlanta Bartlett and Dave Coote
