I have never owned a pair. I’m not sure I understand what they are to be worn with exactly. A friend of mine recently remarked that she didn’t see the point – surely you either need a shoe or a boot?
I have been sorely tempted recently though, especially with the current Zara offerings (as I write this these two pairs, as on the slider above, are upstairs in my bedroom – I’m still undecided). The thing is they are not very “winter” are they? with the toe hole I mean, what happens if it rains?
Or are they really just a fashion statement, absolutely no practical element at all. Which brings me onto, is it a faux pas to wear them with black opaque tights?
Do you own shoe boots?
Do I just need to get with the times?
They are very sexy though… I like the pair with the bare ankle design very much indeed. Ahem, does this therefore make it just a shoe?!
It’s a no from me but I do have nail polish v similar to the first photo haha!
I just don’t get it or like it that much – would rather wear an actual boot or an actual stiletto heel. Maybes I’m old!
Ha ha ha! That’s what I said Lynn, Am I just old and want to wear my big comfy socks?!
I don’t get them either, glad its not just me!
Nope, not just you!
I love them! I just bought a pair a couple of weeks ago and have hardly worn any other shoes since! They’re the perfect transition footwear in my eyes!
Although I have to admit… I’ve only worn them in the office, I change back into normal, closed-toe shoes to travel home in the rain!
I was also wondering about whether it’s a faux pas to wear with black tights so will be interested to hear what others say about that!
I have a pair I bought from Reiss a few years back. I wear them with tights or socks in winter and with jeans but without socks or tights in spring and autumn. Mine only reveal a hint of toe though…
That’s why I was thinking of keeping the pair with the lattice design, less toe-show!
Oooh I like the idea of wearing them with socks!
Yes mine only reveal a bit of toe too…the first Zara ones are very toe-y aren’t they!
I know, maybe I am confused and these are classed as shoes?! x
I totally don’t get these either – I mean you must surely only have to wear them on days when it isn’t raining?? makes my head hurt just thinking about it…
Nothing worse than unpredicted wet tootsies Emma x
I do not get these at all. Not wishing to sound like my mother, but when do you wear them and with what? You wear boots in iffy weather, but would never go open-toed if iffy is on the horizon?! Never seen anyone I know wear them, but see them everywhere in the press. The marketing departments are obviously working hard on the concept, but we (with a few exceptions!) are not falling for it! I’ll stick to my old fuddy duddy choices, thankyou!! x
Mwah ha ha! I am sure your choices are not fuddy duddy! (Although I do have these shoes I sometimes wear around the house that are really not cool……..) x
It’s a yes from me on the shoe boots. I have three pairs, all with a closed back though.
I don’t really see them as a boot, more of a substantial sandal (if that makes sense?) and I wear them through spring and autumn for a smart-casual look. x
I love shoe boots, they are so versatile and way more comfortable for me than regular heels because they have so much more support. They look a bit more cross casual than a lot of my heels so they are a good compromise if I don’t want to be too dressy. They don’t all have open toes though so weather has never been a consideration for me!
The ones in the pictures both look more like shoes though as aren’t very substantial but there are a lot of variations.
Maybe that’s it Katie, I need to go more substantial!
I love the look of them but from my experience of trying them on in store they make my legs look a bit dumpy if worn without tights. I think they are another one of fashions evil ideas that only suit people with gazelle like limbs
Claire if you are like me any footwear that cuts in a straight line (or God forbid an ankle strap) cut my (short) legs in half. The hole-y Zara ones above have a sufficient “dip” I found x
I LOVE a Shoob. Love them. Sexy. Hot. Fit. Fact.
Keep them. Wear them with jeans, wear them with tights. I beg you… Just wear them.
This is all.
Ok! (As I’ve been answering comments I think I’m going to keep the ones without the hole in the back)
Also, is Shoob the official terminology?
Excellent choice. It’s my official terminology so yeah, I reckon so 😉
