My daughter entered the world in a perfect star shape, held aloft by my surgeon in the bright halo glow of theatre lights. I will never forget that moment for as long as I live.
They say that you can’t begin to explain what it feels like to hold your baby for the first time, they are right, you can’t. Neither can anything prepare you for the overwhelming sense of pride when you see the look of wonderment and love on your husband’s face as he gazes upon this tiny person that will undoubtedly change your lives forever. Mabel Rose O’Shea is officially the best thing that ever happened to us.
Rock My Style was never supposed to be a “baby” blog, in fact it wasn’t even supposed to have a section dedicated to all things maternal, children are such a huge part of folks’ lives and consequently the scope is so wide, if we were going to do anything at all then it would be an entire site dedicated to just that – raising a family.
Due to the unexpected popularity of the maternity fashion and maternity survival features and the subsequent requests for more of the same however we’ve had a re-think. Well, sort of. We still actually can’t quite decide what exactly to do in terms of frequency and content.
We wholly appreciate that anyone who is not even close to a parental mind set may find these types of posts irrelevant. We concluded that perhaps a regular designated day and time slot in that case would work i.e. those that were particularly interested would know exactly when to look out for our little-one-related chat and those that weren’t could look forward to an abundance of fashion, beauty, interiors, travel and culinary delights all other mornings and afternoons during the week.
Does that sound like a plan?
In terms of what we’ll cover well…that’s really up to you, what in terms of bumps, babies and motherhood would you like to see us research and discuss? Please leave your requests and thoughts in the comments box below.
P.S Thanks so much for all of the lovely congratulatory messages on my instagram account, we are overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness and generosity.
Huge congrats!
You have one beautiful little madam there lady!!
I also love the photo of you, having just given birth and your hair still looks epic!
Xxx
Ha ha ha ha!!!! I just read your comment out to my husband Lizzie!!! I think it was the clever positioning of the cushion, my hair in reality was covered in sweat π xx
she’s beautiful Charlotte and you both look beyond happy. Congratulations to you all xxx
Thanks so much , we are very lucky x
Congratulations, she is gorgeous xx
Congrats! She’s a beauty. My baby girl is 14 months now and every day is an adventure with her! I’d definitely like to see posts on baby clothes but all bump/baby/family posts will be popular with me π
You are right, every day is an adventure! So much to learn and experience. Thanks for the feedback x
Congratulations to you both. She is absolutely beautiful!! As I’m currently at 37.5 weeks myself I’ve been avidly following your posts on IG, and I’d love to see all the pretty things on Rock My Style about maternity/babies/nurseries. I remember feeling quite sad that once we’d got married I couldn’t really spend everyday checking Rock My Wedding for ideas so RMS has been a fab surprise and couldn’t be more perfect for me right now!!
xx
Congratulations! Not long to go now π
So glad you like RMS, and thanks so much for the feedback x
Massive congratulations! Until I read your moving article, I was firmly in the “I could not think of anything worse than having a baby” camp….however, this has really put things into perspective and makes you realise what an amazing thing it can be!! All the best for the exciting times ahead with your new arrival! x ps, love the name Mabel Rose.
Mrs N, what a lovely comment, it is indeed amazing, she makes us laugh so much and she can’t even communicate yet! My husband chose the name π x
She is beautiful – and what a fab name!
My little girls middle name is Vera – I am loving the comeback of what were considered “older” names.
Yes baby posts pleeeeaaaasssseee!!
(or maybe you could, you know, just start a whole new baby blog? It couldn’t be THAT much work … could it? I joke – obvs.)
I am mid replanning my daughters playroom and am just AMAZED by what people have / do for their kids. Especially the DIY projects – oh darling, an elevator out of cardboard? OF COURSE. And how about a Rocket Ship to go with it? We’ll paint it with these homemade paints I whipped up. And lets do all of this in the 2 storey castle we built in the corner of your playroom. Once again, those mummies (& daddies) from across the pond are rocking it.
Lately I have been scouring Pinterest and the US blogs for decorating her room, children’s parties (its going to be EPIC), re-planning her playroom, toys I can make for her, playing ideas for us (Oh the possibilities out there! There is parent-led, child-led, sensory boxes, dramatic play centres, open invitations “stations”, busy boards and an immense use of pom poms. To name but a few), learning tools and baby fashion. Each season I spend inordinate amounts of time scouring my favourite shops to put a proper wardrobe together for her, as well as spending way too much time finding toys that she will love. Along with your normal potty training / food that’s healthy but looks like chips / behaviour management / how to be a super mummy general searches.
So I, for one, would LOVE to see some posts on the (probably) more superficial side of fashion, interiors, games and even some DIY.
Sorry for the ramble. Massive congratulations – Mabel is a very lucky girlie.
xxx
Emily this made me laugh out loud! I am going to share my nursery but am now a bit concerned I don’t have an elevator made of cardboard?! Pinterest is amazing for ideas – I got lots. Superficial is good – I have been pleasantly surprised by all of the gorgeous clothes out there (both budget and more luxe) I have some fab outfits from Mama’s and Papa’s and some equally lovely things from the supermarket (!)
Thanks for the heaps of inspiration peach – really helpful x
BIG congratulations! She is one gorgeous gal! I’m getting married in July and hopefully planning to have a baby a year or two after so would defintely be intetested in some Mumsie posts! You are a star and I love reading what you have to say! Have fun with you beautiful girl xx
Thanks so much Jenna – congratulations on your July wedding! x
That picture of Mr O’Shea and baby has just MELTED me. Oh my. Congratulations!
Beautiful!! You both look all glowy and beautiful!
Yes please to more baby posts. I am currently nearly 14 weeks (still early on) and have already ordered Tracey Anderson’s workout and got the Trilogy oil you have recommended!
I also haven’t a clue about this whole antenatal process and a panicking I’m missing some vital processes along the way.
Rhiannon Tracy will change your life! (I know this sounds OTT but it’s true!) I’m going to start the Method for beginners as soon as I get signed off to exercise again ( I actually miss it?!)
I was panic central – especially towards the end as I felt I hadn’t done enough “research” etc, I will of course do all I can to share my experience but my best advice at this stage is to speak to your friends/people you trust who are already parents – better than any book I can recommend x
Congratulations! She is beautiful and the name is just gorgeous.
We got married nearly a year ago now and are just starting to talk about babies although Mr D has always made it very clear that they were most definitely on the agenda. I have always thought they were nice and imagined I’d have one but it is only really in the last few months that I have really started to want one, and now I am filled with the fear of ‘but what if it is not that easy for us or what if we can’t etc’ I have no basis for this currently but having seen a couple of friends go through this maybe some posts on other options might be good, things like the adoption process or fostering and just general tips from people that have had trouble but then succeeded in getting pregnant.
In addition to that, maybe something on work/careers and babies, something that I seem to ponder on a lot at the moment!
xxx
Ps. Love the fierce sign!
Mrs D – work and babies is definitely on my agenda, for me it will be the biggest challenge of all I think – how to balance.
Fierce – It’s my favourite Shakespeare quote x
Congratulations to you and your husband. Look at those adorable chubby cheeks!
I would really love to see a post on the actual getting pregant, ttc journey. As someone who is currently ttc and have been doing so for over a year with no luck, I really love hearing about how others got there and their ttc journey….
Enjoy evey second of being a mummy π
Hi Mrs H, quite a few folks requesting this I see, I will definitely look into it!
Mabel definitely has my cheek gene! x
Awww she is gorgeous, congratulations! I am currently 28 weeks pregnant, and would love to see more posts about baby / child clothing, nursery ideas, creative DIY projects for the baby, and definitely lots more pictures of the beautiful Mabel! Take care, hope she is settling in well x
Thanks Jane, and congratulations at 28 weeks! she is settling in very well and thriving – she eats a LOT! what kind of DIY projects specifically? do you mean in terms of decor or entertainment…or both? x
The thing is with parenting is that there is just so much you can cover and so many seemingly simple things can be really contraversial! People tend to have the strongest opinions on sleep and feeding (even up to the correct age to introduce solids). I would like to see stuff on clothes, toys, nursery interiors (mine is done now but I still like to get ideas), equipment recommendations, career + motherhood, ideas for days out, celebrations (I got some great Christening ideas from Pintrest), and baby friendly recipes (although past 12 months they can eat pretty much anything that isn’t salty – my 18mo loved his Thai Green curry on Friday night!) The possibilities are endless…
Congratualtions on the birth of your daughter, she looks beautiful! It really does change your life, just go with the flow and enjoy!
Hi Kathryn! Thanks for the recommendations and yes there are very strong opinions on everything – I’ve heard most of them I reckon π
Love the ideas for days out – I could do with some! x
Congratulations!
I’m currently 23 weeks pregnant and loving it (well, MOST of it!) I had a very definite addiction to RMW a couple of years ago and now RMS is super useful too.
I have planned my (gender-neutral) nursery now and although Pinterest was really useful, it would be good to see baby / kiddie decor covered and also easy healthy baby food recipes. I’ve also planned lots of things to do on mat leave so would be interesting to see what others do to help life post-baby.
Next challenge for me is trying to convince my husband that MY baby names are much better than his Game of Thrones-inspired choices.
Congratulations again Charlotte, she’s a beaut! xx
Hi Rebecca! Congratulations on 23 weeks π I think you can easily convince your husband, although James didn’t really like any of my choices (!) he came up with Mabel and luckily I loved it.
Mat leave stuff to do is an excellent idea x
Me again – just seen someone elses post about TTC and think that would be a good topic to cover. It took us way longer than we thought it would and at times i felt completely sad and alone. xx
Congratulations to all three of you. She is a beaut. I hope you are enjoying these first few weeks, they are crazy!!
As baby brain is rife, I used to keep notes on my phone that I would add to when feeding, basically just a list of things I have learnt along the way or that I wish I had known beforehand. It is nice to read back through and will be usefull when those rose tinted glasses go in for bubba #2.
I think a dedicated section to the little ones would be brilliant. We are 16 weeks in now and although I google, a lot most of what I find is American or just not as stylish as I would like. RMW was right up my street when I was getting married and I would love more of the same at this new stage of our lives. Bambino fashion, interiors and celebration ideas would be great, as well as somewhere to get info from other mums.
Enjoy your little lady xx
Louise….somewhere to get info from other Mums, this is something we are currently pondering over actually. Obviously if we have a dedicated section on here readers are super helpful in the comments section, however this will only be weekly and on specific topics at any one time, are you proposing some kind of forum/chat type platform?
Thanks so much for the congrats, the same to you! x
Yes if it is possible. I am constantly on what’s app to my friends it is so useful when you are in a flap to know someone else has been there and got through it. Makes you feel normal. I know these forums aren’t the easiest to orcastrate, but I would defiantly use it and have found others to be really usefull. Hope that helps x
Oh my days she is a GEM!!! gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. Massive congratulations! xxx
Thanks Maddy π
Congratulations again lovely! I can’t get over how adorable Mable is, hope you’re all doing well and enjoying being a family of 3!
Well you know that I enjoy the bump / baby related posts and a weekly scheduled post sounds like a great idea! I’m currently trying to figure out if we have the right / enough clothes for her. What a blinking minefield of contrasting and confusing advice. Oh and packing our hospital bags, I have no idea where to start…
We also painted the nursery and assembled all the furniture at the weekend, which is very exciting and am already so so pleased. Now comes the fun bit making it pretty!
8 weeks to go (if she’s on time of course!) xxx
Hi Tabitha! I really enjoyed decorating the nursery (once I got my head round the fact I didn’t need to buy anything typically….”nursery”)
Hospital bag packing! oh my gosh – I know what you mean! travel sized everything and lose comfortable clothing (I was in for 3 days and to be honest the most comfortable thing was the hospital gown!)
You can never have enough baby grows – just be sure to check sizing when you buy, “newborn” is vastly different depending on where you shop x
She is just the cutest little thing! And agree with an earlier comment that you still having amazing volume in your hair, how, how, how?!! Glad you are loving it and just enjoy those precious few weeks. It is true that they do grow so fast and I really miss those new born cuddles. Would love anything interiors. Although both my girls rooms are done I’m always on the look out to change them! Love finding anything new and fun for the nursery so any fab ideas or shops/websites. Clothes for both mummy and baby would be lovely. Especially think it would be nice for people to see clothes that you can wear for those first few months after baby when you want to be back to normal but aren’t! Also gift ideas would be nice as always seem to have a friends baby to buy for! Plus Just general advice/tips. For example I took my littlest one to see a cranial osteopath on the recommendation of friends and it was fab, she started sleeping. Hoorah! Sorry, far too many suggestions! Xxx
I’m sure my sister in law is visiting a cranial osteopath? so good to hear that it was worthwhile! Definitely first few months clothes – I’m in that zone right now, i.e. looking for flattering things that are not sack-of-potatoes esque.
I can see us doing lots of interiors inspiration! x
Well this isn’t helping the womb ache! Sigh be still my beating heart. Beautiful! x
Congratulations – as a parent I love the baby articles and there are so many things to write about a whole blog would be great! π it’s a difficult one, I wouldn’t have been the least bit interested in reading these articles pre babies so I understand the dilemma. Personally I’d prefer articles about children’s decor, clothes, parties etc I find any articles about parenting decisions can get a bit awkward in the comments’ sections as, as someone above has already said, people have very strong views around raising children. Congrats again she’s gorgeous x
Hi Vicky – yes I think you are right, we want to keep is lighthearted and fun but ultimately useful too, I guess it’s a case of finding the right balance on what we cover. A whole blog isn’t out of the question – it’s more of a case of time! x
Welcome lovely Mabel!Embrace the chaos of the messy newborn days. Hope you’re doing well (surgeon?!) and recovering ok-take care of yourself.
I honestly think the success of rmw was, in part, due to us all feeling like we knew you… .like we were catching up and looking at pretty wedding dresses on a page together over tea and chocolate digestives. You chatted honestly about you and your husband and it all felt a bit more real than other blogs.Ive no doubt rms will be the same… And I for one would Love to see this through your journey through motherhood-maybe 3 monthly updates on all parenty things!
Also: your style…because as a mum you need to learn to dress to accommodate bending down to pick up toys , having snot smeared on your shoulder, your top yanked down, running after a wayward toddler etc etc. Also…oftwn on less money (due to maternity pay /childcare etc) and I would love some tips on this (sits here at nap time in joggers and an old t shirt)
Finally…I would love reviews on could friendly hols and days out etc.
Enjoy that magical newborn head smell!
Hi Cath, thanks so much for your comment, I had no idea people felt like that about RMW. I was probably typing about weddings whilst actually eating a digestive! π
So far today Mabel has managed to throw up on my jumper, wee on her Dad and send my laptop crash landing onto the floor…..I definitely need to consider flattering clothes as well as sensible ones! x
Charlotte, Mabel is sooo beautiful, obviously takes after her parents. Huge congratulations! Having avidly followed all Rock my Wedding posts throughout my engagement (along with my work colleagues….most of the time this was the only thing getting us through the day!) I was super excited for the Rock my Style site to go live! And now becoming the proud mama of (now 5 month old) Zachary, I’m so glad you’ve decided to go the baby route.
The work/home life balance is something I’d like to see discussed also as I’m going back to work when Zach is 9 months and nursery/breastfeeding issues do concern me.
Can’t wait to see your nursery post!!
Jenn xx
Hi Jenn – LOVE that name, one of my favourites for boys.
work/home balance is certainly on the agenda, and I can see from the comments it’s an issue for many readers who have commented on this post.
So glad RMW was so useful! let’s hope RMS will prove to be the same for you x
Congratulations on your beautiful daughter! My husband and I got married last September, and whilst babies are a couple of years off for us yet they are very much on the agenda. So whilst I am not a mother or even planning on being one too soon, I love the baby posts. Clothes and nurseries are top of my wish list as I love clothes and decor, and a small version is even better! Also balancing work and motherhood is something that petrifies me and is putting me off so I would love anything around this too.
Hi Anna, that’s really interesting (and useful) – that you still love the baby posts even though a family is not in your immediate thoughts. I was pleasantly surprised how much I got into the nursery styling, I’ll be sharing my (mostly budget!) ideas on here soon! x
I would LOVE to see more posts or a whole other blog for all the pretty and nice things… interiors, style (feeding friendly, snot friendly outfits) good products, handbags etc for days when you need to fit in a few toy cars, rice cakes, change of clothes and an odd paint roller – (my Marc Jacobs is going to struggle with baby no 3) and definitely gorgeous kids clothes and party ideas! But, yes, maybe best to steer clear of some of the ‘parenting issues’ as they can indeed lead to crazy controversy! I once mentioned on a facebook comment that I had never taken my children to McDonalds and didn’t like it…wowzers… 52 angry comments later…!!! (people can get very offended it seems!) But yes there are so many gorgeous US blogs full of amazing clothes and party ideas and places to source things to turn your house into Oz but really hard to find things for us UK mums who also like to go a bit OTT for the little ones birthdays! I’m really sick of finding beautiful things and then having to work out importation tax and then find places wont ship to the UK…but with the right amount of digging around there are loads of great things we can access here to make for the most gorgeous of events/rooms/styled kiddies! ‘Rock My Baby’ is kind of a title ready made to happen isn’t it though?! Hehe Charlotte congratulations on the most gorgeous little girl – she is adorable and I bet you’re just obsessed with looking at her all day long… I still have 3 more sleeps till the hospital are forcing mine out – I can’t believe she’s nearly 2 weeks late – its been the longest 2 weeks of my life!!
Ha ha a paint roller in a Marc Jacobs! that made me laugh a lot. I have really struggled finding an appropriate bag (I want cross body that will hold an iPad, purse, make-up, phone and keys but isn’t “big”) so any suggestions would be most helpful! Maybe researching more will result in me finding the perfect one π
I too am fed up with finding all these super things in the U.S and having to pay import charges, I had a cushion that was supposed to be $20 and after one thing and another ended up costing $60! Perhaps we can make it our (RMS) mission to really find great (and unique) suppliers in the UK.
Lots of love and luck for Thursday x
Ooh yes please!! And not just baby-esque!! I’m also tired of seeing covetable goods only to find I’m the wrong side of the pond.
Congrats again! You’re so glam! I want the birth story lol! Just cos I’m super nosy and amazed how gorge you look immediately post birth lol!! Can’t wait for nursery pics and more of Madame Mabel too! Well done!! Xx
Absolutely darling little Mabel!!! And you look fan dabby doozie after just having had her! I looked like a bus had rocked into me after my Flora was born just before Christmas.
So yes,
Life does change a wee bit after having had a babe and so glad you’re looking into posting some mumma blog goodies for us all to continue the community love. Of course, some may not want to read it but it’s pretty obvious that many of us will also have progressed from the weddings to the babies (via a bit of RMStyle along the way!) so a big Yes Please from over here.
Always love a real style post and inspiration for christening/first birthday parties etc would be cool. Keep it light discussions about what to shove in that changing bag, newborn essentials and which is the best low calorie snack to stuff in your face on maternity leave (coconut and vanilla propercorn popcorn is the answer to that!) and future work/life balance. I think this kind of online community is great as it’s positive and light hearted-exactly what you need in those newborn misty days (and nights particularly!) I’ve utilised 3am to read the back catalogue of RMS posts as was busy having her when it began!
Wedding fans to baby fans love xxx
Sophie, what is this coconut and vanilla popcorn you speak of?
What a gorgeous little girl! Congratulations to you both π
I’m 21 weeks with my first and am the first in my circle of friends to have a baby. As such, I don’t really have that group / network of people who I can ask those questions of, like ‘is this kicking or just gas?’ ‘How can I get comfortable to sleep?’ And ‘are you guys peeing as much as me?’
A place to discuss anxieties / excitement, birthing choices, baby clothes, maternity clothes that don’t look like sacks, nursery ideas, products I definitely will need and things that are just a waste of time etc would be great. X x x
Tallulah have you considered NCT? if nothing else it’s great for meeting people in your area who are having babies the same time.
I felt kicking from 17 weeks, comfort for sleep was almost impossible, as I got bigger I propped my growing bump up with a cushion – this helped….and from 12 weeks I was really thirsty and subsequently always visiting the bathroom, it’s pretty normal π x
Oh the THIRST! I feel like I’m living in a desert! Have tried the cushion thing but where apparently I’m meant to sleep on my left side, my hip really hurts. I’m sure it will ease. The kicking is just lovely. There’s no way to describe it other than just bloody brilliant π
Am looking into NCT stuff as we speak – thanks for the recommendation!
Xxx
Rock my baby?????
Hi
I’m 28 weeks pregnant with little Orson and already have a three year old son Zachary. I have made the journey from RMW to RMS having tied the knot last summer. I would definitely read a ‘RMF’ rockmyfamily (or similar!) aswell as RMS. I figure ‘rockmyfamily’ would work as your bundle of joy will grow up and so will your blog. Plus… it could give you more room for future family projects…
The ‘Rock My’ team always manage to keep the tone light hearted, fun and interesting. So i’d hope that you’d not have the problem of arguments on the comments sections.
Your posts could include interiors, shopping, recommended items, baby style, mummy style, daddy style, mini family breaks, there’s a whole host of baby photographers that you could do a version of the love lust list with, then there are reader features, pregnancy journeys … The list is endless and I DEFINITELY think that there is a gap in the market for a decent baby/family blog. I’d read it daily and I am getting too excited by it now so I need to calm my fingers down and just hope… (Oh! and I need to do some work! 2nd job – work from home mummy!)
Hi Lisa! What gorgeous names π and um….yes you are exactly on the right lines, although it’s not immediate it would be a “family” route rather than purely baby we went down.
It’s super useful all of the comments we’ve had on the lighthearted-ness of the Rock My brand too – we have always endeavoured (and will continue) to keep it this way, we want our on-line platforms to be a place of escape and fun as well as being useful, rather than an opportunity for a forum type situation which can breed negativity and controversy.
That’s not to say we would never create a separate forum – although it would have to be heavily moderated to meet with our brand requirements for the aforementioned friendly/pleasant environment! x
I’m as fortunate to work in obstetrics and I have to say that little Mabel is especially gorgeous! As are the parents!!! Unfortunately my husband and I had to put our baby plans on hold until he is healthy again, but I would loooove to read pregnancy/baby related posts!
Hi Anja, I hope your husband makes a speedy journey to health, thanks so much for the lovely comments and feedback, I think Mabel is especially gorgeous but then I’m biased π x
Congratulations, she is so lovely! Yes, regular family posts would be so helpful. I would definitely be interested in posts on recommended products for mums and babies, particularly budget friendly ideas.
Tinny budget friendly is my speciality! we (my husband and I) have been so surprised by just how expensive some things are because they come under “baby” – a bit like weddings!
Congratulations. What a beautiful name. Just give in and write mummy stuff I say (in moderation of course!) I lasted 6 months of protesting not to become a mummy blogger before giving in to the irresistible urge to share the amazing experience of motherhood with all and sundry!
Ha ha ha!!! it’s funny – Adam emailed me yesterday to say that the key to great blogging is writing about what you know, and I guess motherhood is what I am going to become knowledgeable about π
Oh Charlotte, she is a beaut! Congratulations to you both. And check you out rocking the hospital chic.
My little girl, Audrey, is now 20 months and I would definitely like to see some baby/toddler posts, as well as possibly some posts for us mummies and daddies (I can barely remember how we spent our free time pre-Audrey so a little reminder might be helpful π ). I think babies are a natural progression for most after weddings, and I know I always loved reading about them even before we even considered getting pregnant!
So ideas for family days out/ nursery interiors (always looking for more inspiration)/ and just a chance to have a nosey at more pics of you and Mabel would be great! Pretty much whatever you choose to blog, I think it’s safe to say I will be reading it.
I know you probably can’t take your eyes off of her, but- Sleep when she sleeps! Sleep when she sleeps! Sleep when she sleeps!
xx
Hi Olivia, just read your comment our to James – sleep when she sleeps!!!!! I hear you, and absolutely, James goes back to work tomorrow so I will need to work out some kind of routine for Mabel and I, especially when I go “back to work” properly.
Audrey is a lovely name – it was on my list π
Definitely up for researching family days out etc, we are currently considering our first “holiday” so I’ll be looking into ideas of that too xx
Just jumping in here! Even though I am too terrified to even have a cat let alone the responsibility of a real child, I am very excited about how passionate everyone seems to be about posts surrounding the small ones.
So lovely to hear that people appreciate our light-hearted tone and banter too! x
I wish you all the happiness in the world as a family in this new part of your life all together! And please, turn that “Maybe” into “Yes” – would love to read about baby-related matters, from how to balance job and mom’s life to how to take care of our sweet little bundles and how to adjust to them in the best possible way(s). Warm wishes to you and congrats again and looking forward to reading more on the baby topic at Rock My Style π
I think it is definitely going to be a “yes” due to the feedback π
Thanks so much for yours x
Congratulations, she is absolutely perfect, like a little doll!!
I love the idea of some Rock My Baby posts…see what I did there?!!
I was addicted to RMW all throughout my engagement (I still allow myself a weekly coffee break catch up) and now I am hooked on all things RMS. My hubby and I are planning to start our own family once we get some other things checked off the bucket list and I would love to see some posts about pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, baby & family life, please do it!!
Congratulations Again xx
Thanks Cate, congratulations on your marriage! so glad that you are as addicted to RMS as you were RMW! x
Huge Congratulations, Mabel is absolutely beautiful! x
Congratulations Charlotte, little Mabel is absolutely gorgeous!!
I know I’m late to this but just catching up on ear-marked blog posts whilst nursing my 10 week old π It is amazing how much time can be consumed by just staring at them isn’t it?! Everything else takes so much longer!
I agree with many of the comments above about not wanting to delve too much into the ‘parenting’ topics eg sleeping/feeding/whether to have a routine or not as there are sites (netmums/mumsnet/etc) that these debates can occur, and they can get VERY heated!and every person you meet always has some words of ‘advice’.
I would love to see more about baby/family style; fashion, decor and parties along the same line as what I visit RMW (despite being married for 2 years) and RMS for.
Fashionable, unfrumpy nursing outfits have proved very difficult, so inspirational outfit ideas would be great! I am currently finding a kimono or cardi, slightly baggy tshirt, with a vest top underneath with jeans/shorts/maxi skirts a winning combo for discreet breastfeeding whilst out and about but also comfortable for post baby body and maintains some sort of style. You discover most necklaces/bracelets/additional rings are a no go as you daren’t scratch your little one, so I’ve taken to wearing hats more to accessorise (also great for hiding hair that hasn’t ben washed since goodness knows when!) Also a scarf is a must! New ideas much needed though!!
Nursing bras are VILE! my least favourite shopping experience ever! I don’t know why it is assumed that when you are nursing you suddenly loose all desire to feel slightly attractive and wish to cover your chest up to your collarbone loosing all hope of being able to wear any reasonably pretty top! My husband threw one of my nursing bras in the air the other day and proceeded to pretend it was a parachute!! I must add I searched for a long time to find the prettiest one I could too!
Again children’s fashion would be great that doesn’t break the bank! I didn’t find out the gender of our little boy before he was born and now trying to find cute outfits is proving more difficult than I thought and as stated by some others the US and Australia seem to have some really fantastic brands but they are much harder to come by here. I have found some via Instagram and RMS would be a great place to showcase these independent UK brands and also the best highstreet picks!
So sorry for the incredibly long post I just feel quite passionately about maintaining a sense of yourself whilst going through the new whirlwind of parenthood, and would love to see that catered for here on RMS as I do think it is lacking out there. Plus this topic is still all very new, exciting and relevant to me! π
Big congratulations again! Being a mama is absolutely the best thing ever!
xx
Late to the party, but I’d like to see some baby posts on staying in shape during pregnancy, healthy eating tips for during and after pregnancy, and some post-baby style (for mummy!). Also would love to see some nursery DIY ideas (artwork for the walls, easy sew projects etc). Congratulations again Charlotte, she’s gorgeous. x
[…] own company but is also a dedicated mother to one year old Maisie, in the comments section of my Maybe Baby post many of you suggested that you would like to read more about working Mums and how they manage […]
What a beauty you have and the name is amazing. I love Mabels blue baby grow can I ask where this is from its so pretty?
