Excuse my ignorance but I’ve always thought white duck eggs were something enjoyed by the privileged folk. You know the ones who do their main food shop in a farm shop and feast on artisan bread. When I thought about putting this very simple DIY together I thought I would have to hunt high and low to find eggs of the pale variety but it turns out I found them in my local Tesco.
These eggs are from ‘posh ducks,’ (their description not mine) and if you do get round to tasting them they are utterly delicious. I normally devour a regular free range egg but these bad boys are creamier with larger yolks than your average chicken egg. Tesco also have the soft blue free range bluebell aruacana eggs too which would work perfectly for this DIY too.

{Tutorial}
- Very carefully take a knife and gently carve through the top fifth of the egg. The shell of duck eggs is even more brittle then a chicken’s egg so do take your time.
- Empty the white and yolk into a bowl (perfect for scrambled eggs later on).
- Carefully rinse out the shell and fill to the top with water and place in your egg cup.
- Snip your chosen floral stems to fill the shell. Daffodils, tulips, bluebells or snowdrops would make a particularly spring-like display.
- Balance a place card within the flower. This one was left over from a Rock My Wedding shoot but you could knock up your own or handwrite on a piece of card. You could use a cocktail stick with a washi tape flag to insert into the display too.

This little arrangement would look smashing piled on top of a couple of plates on the table to set the place of your Easter guests. To anyone interested about the egg cup with the spoon rest, I bought it last year from a fabulous store in Arundel called Sparks Yard. I’ve also found they do the same egg plate on Amazon too.
Is anyone hosted a dinner for family or friends over Easter? Do you plan to decorate your table?
Aw this is a really cute idea. I have some traditional wood fired stone egg cups that, I feel, always look too nice to be shoved back in the cupboard. This is the perfect way to utilise them, thanks 🙂
Far too nice to not be on show Jennifer!
I don’t have anyone coming over for Easter but i’m deffo going to have a go at these. So cute!
Super cute aren’t they? Would look sweet on a shelf or mantlepiece too x
Ooooo these look so pretty! (and oh so simple!)
Also not having people over & don’t have dining room table but maybe these just as vase around our little house would look fab! x
Definitely Rebecca. Takes seconds too! x
Very pretty and perfect for spring! Remember no bluebell pinching from woodlands or common land though! I’ve got bluebells coming through in our front garden which is a lovely surprise!
Absolutely no pinching Kitty. I’ve got them in my garden too 🙂 x
This is awesome, I love the tulip sat inside the shell! Incidentally, I’m originally from a small village near Arundel and can vouch for how fantastic Sparks Yard is. In fact, I must make a visit there when I visit my parents this weekend… X
I thought it was an ace shop Sarah, so good for presents! x
So cute! On a side note – love a duck egg. Asparagus dipped in one like soldiers works a treat! x
Oooh very fancy Siobhan. Not long until asparagus season too! x
[…] easy to replicate too. That last picture of the egg being used as a little vase, well last week Rock My Style showed you how to make your very own egg vase. So simple yet so effective it would definitely be an […]
