Blush is one of my absolute favourite colours. The softness and the hint of pretty that it brings to a room or outfit is just so lovely. I know it can be considered girly but before you switch off it doesn’t have to be all out feminine. A subtle touch with some monochrome or within a print is a lovely addition to any room. Of course if you want to go all out girly with frills and tutus then I’m good with that too.
We aren’t the only one’s talking Blush today. Over on Rock My Style it’s blush interiors and on Rock My Wedding it’s all the pretty for your big day which I will certainly be using as inspiration for some wonderful birthdays or baby showers.
Blush Nursery Colour Combinations
Firstly, as I mentioned above you could go all out pretty and I for one know Molly would be in heaven with a completely blush girly room. In fact her bedroom has got the prettiest shade on the walls. However, I am more for mixing it in with some other colours for a more subtle scheme.
The classic Blush and Grey colour combo never fails. Whether you opt for a subtle dove grey or a darker charcoal it brings a nice contrast to the blush.
In pulling together this post I have totally fallen in love with a bit of blush and monochrome. There is still a lot of love for a monochrome nursery but adding a touch of blush can soften it slightly whilst keeping the look modern.
Finally I am a big fan of blush and soft mint green. I used these colours in Molly’s room and they work really well together.
Walls & Furniure
When it comes to the walls you could paint all the walls in soft blush or opt for one of the complimentary neutral colours. For a soft blush then Dulux Blossom White is a really subtle colour or Farrow and Ball Peignoir has more grey undertones. For more paint choices then have a peek at Rock My Style who did the hard work for us with their testing of Blush Pink paints. I also love the twist of keeping the walls white and painting the ceiling blush. It’s a great option if you have high ceilings and a picture rail.
I am also a huge fan of wallpaper and the beautiful Ferm Living Dotty Rose is just beautiful or the Rabbit wallpaper with it’s blush take on monochrome is more modern but still super cute.
Adding in prints is a fantastic way of adding some blush hues without committing to the more permanent paint option. I particularly love the prints at This Modern Life and the alphabet or Polar Bear are subtle ways of adding a touch of blush.
Ikea have the most gorgeous wardrobe and chest of drawers that would add a hit of colour. Or how about painting a wardrobe or chest of drawers in a soft blush to create a unique piece of furniture or adding some pretty handles. I have had these on gorgeous M&S door knobs for some time now but also adore these more fun Bloomingville face door knobs with a touch of blush on the cheeks.
Textiles
A few little blankets or cushions in blush shades are not only pretty but also practical. Prop them on chairs for night time feeds or as playmats on the floor.
When it comes to bedding I can’t help but be drawn to the beautiful scandi style prints. If you loved the Ferm Living Rabbit wallpaper but thought it may be too much then you’ll be pleased to know they do a range of bedding to match. Lorna found the most beautiful Swan bedding at the Tipi and I am a little bit in love. Now I realise these are a bit pricey so for a more budget option then I was rather impressed to find this cute cloud print set in Ikea for the bargain price of £13.
I am also a big fan of Nobodinoz for their graphic prints in the prettiest shades. In fact I’m eyeing up a few cushions and rugs for Alice’s rooms. At just over £10 the scale print cushion will add a nice bit of colour to a reading nook or chair and the blanket looks super snuggly.
Mamas and Papas are absolutely killing it with their new collection. I want it all. These sleeping bags feature not only blush but hedgehogs and chevrons too. Amazing. The coverlets look beautiful in a cot and I’m torn between the blush and grey or the blush, mint and yellow. For the floor add a rug in the softest shades.
Finally this gorgeous soft blush swaddle from Archies Boutique is practical but would also look beautiful hung on a hook as per some of the inspiration images in the gallery.
Accessories
The possibilities are endless here with a myriad of beautiful pieces that you can accessorise the room with.
Firstly storage is not only practical but can be pretty too. These bunny face bags would be super cute for storing nappies or those little essentials.
Get some blush in the room with some sweet lighting. The Ferm Living hot air balloon lamp is utterly adorable and would be perfect for story time. Or for a table lamp this Made.com blush lamp is a good choice.
Back to my current obsession of Mamas and Papas for this amazing bunny head wall hanging. With grey and little touches of the softest pink it would suit many a nursery scheme.
Garlands are a super cute way of adding some details and I am slightly in love with the feather hanging mobiles in the gallery above. Just beautiful. These star garlands from Numero 74 would look lovely strung by a cot or under a shelf or a cute name bunting from Obiora is a great gift for a new baby.
Quite simply you could just display some of those gorgeous teeny tiny baby clothes and shoes. They are a wonderful reminder of when they were really small.
Has anyone gone blush in their nursery or considering it?
Beautiful inspiration Lottie! I would never have teamed blush with monochrome but it totally works. Can’t believe the wardrobe is Ikea. And just adore that star bunting. X
I know. I love how well it works together. Reconsidering my decorating schemes for Alice’s bedroom makeover now! x
I want everything! I don’t have a daughter but if I ever do I’m referencing this post! I have a few pregnant friends at the moment and there’s a few present ideas in here too… perhaps a print or a swaddle (prays one of them has a girl).
I hadn’t thought of it from a gift perspective but definitely a great idea. I like to multi task in my posts, without knowing it!! x
This is all stunning! I love blush and I’m not at all a pink kind of person, maybe it’s because we’re due a baby girl! Sadly we don’t have room for a separate nursery, she’ll have to share with her brother once she’s out of our room but I have added some blush elements – gorgeous Cox and Cox velvet cushion and a pinky/neutral throw from The White Company against grey walls. Also loving brass/gold accents too. Once we move to a bigger house I am definitely revisiting this post!
xx
I think I know the cushions you mean, they are gorgeous. Just a few little touches will be great. I’ve seen quite a few shared rooms where they have been separated for the two siblings with slightly different schemes that work really well. Perhaps one for a future post. xx
Such beautiful rooms and colours, I shall definitely be incorporating these colour schemes in to my daughter’s bedroom when our house renovation gets underway. The colours are so calming and give a real sense of child hood dreaming….love them. Thank you xx
Wow, absolutely wow. I ‘only’ have a little boy at the moment and I’ve never been one for pinks and all that, but my those blush colour schemes are utterly beautiful! Where is that gorgeous cot bed from the title photo from? It looks so cosy.
The Ikea bedding!!! PIN PIN PIN PIN PIN! I’ve ordered the m&s cupboard knobs for my own room. Great finds, Lottie!
Ha ha, this made me chuckle Philippa! Good purchase on the cupboard knobs. They are so good x
First off I would like to say superb blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you
do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and
clear your thoughts before writing. I’ve had a hard
time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out there.
I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15
minutes are usually lost simply just trying to figure
out how to begin. Any ideas or tips? Kudos!
Love blush, actually im a pink (the nice pink shades) obsessed girl mama. Just redecorating my 3 girls shared bedroom atm and drowning in blush and peach paint samples. Winner atm F&B Middleton Pink but just trying two others atm.
Great blog btw x
Do you know where you found the hot air balloon mobile. My baby girl is due in January and I would LOVE to find that for her room!
Hi Amber. I think it is by Cam Cam – https://www.themodernnursery.com/collections/cam-cam-copenhagen/products/cam-cam-balloon-musical-mobile-grey. xx
