When I was planning this post last week it seemed appropriate to chat about summer footwear. Then on Tuesday we had a hail storm in Northampton and it now seems very inappropriate to discuss sandals, however the sun is destined to shine at some point so let’s have a chinwag about what we could be wearing on our feet.
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I still can’t get behind the backless loafer thing. However if the open back is your bag then have you seen these Gucci ahem, inspired ones from Ego? Not dissimilar are they?!
Let’s have a browse through a few more suggestions shall we?
All The Pinks
Laura has packed the Accessorize powder pink bow flats for her holiday and Lorna cannot decide which Next beach sandals to treat herself to. They come in pink, mint, white or gold and at £24 for real leather some of us would be thinking it would be rude not to buy a pair. Or two. Sadly I could only get the gold image below but trust me, they also come in blush too.
Sliders and Mules
There are so many mules about at the moment from Zara’s super fun and fruity sliders to La Redoute’s bargain animal print mules. They’re currently £7.50 in the sale so probably won’t hang around for long.
Leather
Salt Waters never go out of fashion and are now available in a multitude of colours. If you prefer a fuller shoe then join Lottie in lusting after the M&S woven flats.
Espadrilles
My friend Lindsay has a gorgeous pair of heeled Espadrilles which go with anything so I might be tempted to get myself a pair this year too. Over at Tesco their wedge sandal looks stylish as well as comfy however my favourites are the Zara slogan ones though. What a cute way to welcome summer.
Pom Pom & Fringe
There was a pom-pom clutch bag at Lisbon airport which I’m kicking myself for not buying. Fringing and trims are still all the range and so flipping summery. Maybe I’ll have to get myself a pair of pom-pom adorned flip flops instead.
In the header above I also pulled in the Topshop metallic flats which are a rather lovely update to the classic ballet pump.
What are you donning on your feet this year? Any shoes you’d like to tell us all about?
I’ve just bought the next leather sandals in mint, but may need to get the pink too! On the search for a good pair of flat espadrilles, I have 2 pairs with a heel from last year which are fab.
I like the la redoute slide on – and you’ve just reminded me I have these in grey from last year!
The m&s leather ones are gorgeous and would be perfect for my American road trip, sadly looks like they are sold out online.
Good post – off to have an online shop and hope the sun reappears soon!
Oh so annoying when things sell out after we’ve put posts together. Hopefully the M&S ones will be available in store.
Love that you went for the mint sandals – they’re gorge x
I’ve like to say I’ve done most of my summer shoe haul already… but I think there may be more to come. I got lucky with a Joules 25% off weekend and bought two (I know… two!) pairs of these beauties in the leopard print/tan and then blue/coral colours https://www.joules.com/Women/Shoes-Boots/Fenthorpe/Leather-Two-Band-Sandals/Tan?id=W_FENTHORPE|TAN and then I’d been lusting over a pair of Phase Eight wedges since last summer, Sainsbury’s Tu had a great version of them, but I gave them up to buy the real deal for this summer. http://www.phase-eight.com/fcp/product/phase-eight/shoes/suede-wedge-espadrille-shoes/750601370#dvt_pha23110UK_2 And seen as they have 20% off too, why the hell now?! Those La redoute pumps with the frill and maybe the M&S woven flats may be purchased at some point soon…
Love, love, love the grey wedges Jenny. They would go with anything!
I always forget about joules but loving your two band flats x
oooh those next tassel ones are divine….no idea what Id wear them with but I think I might need to go and have a browse at lunch time!
Damn you, internet shopping with your speed and convenience! Those La Redoute black tasselled sandals just went into my basket in less than a minute – oops!
I have been think about summer footwear too. I’m going to Budapest in July and will be doing a lot of walking. My feet are quite sensitive and I find that shoes rub quite easily. I’m on the look out for a light summer pump/trainer for the daytime. Any suggestions gratefully received.
Hi Claire – I bought these from Clarks last week in dusty pink. They are great 🙂

Supergas come in loads of colours and dead comfy. Converse all star are a classic and I love my Nike internationalist
Hi Claire, I recommend the Nike Juvenate trainers – lightweight and comfortable, I wore them on a trip to Greece in August when I was 6 months pregnant and they didn’t rub… they are kind of stretchy so if your feet are prone to swelling they’re great.

Hi Claire, Lorna is doing a trainer and pump post soon which will hopefully give you lots of inspiration x
Ooh hello from the other Claire B, I’m now going to use my nickname ‘Bunny’! I too have what I term ‘Princess Feet’ and I really fret about what I’m going to wear on my feet for just about every occasion. I’ve got so many shoes that just aren’t comfortable enough. I am desperate for some summery shoes that don’t rub, Birkenstocks didn’t work for me. Converse pinch my toes, which is sad because I brought two lovely pairs back from NYC with customised laces! I end up wearing sparkly flip flops in summer but if my feet get hot they rub too. Help! I’m looking forward to the trainer post.
