Despite the fact I STILL have no physical wardrobe and have lived out of a suitcase for most of March I am building my spring capsule closet.
Even though I own about ten striped tops already a few more have jumped into my online basket, including the one I’m wearing above from Zara. I’m a big fan of the subtle back detailing captured in this image by my friend Lisa when I was hanging out with her little boy Louis in my garden recently. Not intent on having one nautical style top I also snapped up a waffle sweatshirt from La Redoute recently. Once I’ve also found the perfect flattering boyfriend jeans then I’ll be all set for some casual jaunts. On the other hand perhaps I need a bardot off-the-shoulder style too?
Cami
Beyond the usual long sleeve stripe I’ve also been eying up a striped vest though sadly I’m returning my recent Topshop purchase as it exposes a bit too much of my lily-white flesh. If I could wear fake tan I’d definitely keep it though.

Shirt
I wore a casual shirt i bought from H&M last year to death as it was so comfy to throw on with jeans or dress up with a leather skirt. Matalan have a similar one for £12. Twelve english pounds, what a bargain. A few others below also worth taking a look at.

Frocks and Skirts
I had a ‘paperbag’ skirt from Zara last year similar to the Oasis number below. It doesn’t fit anymore unfortunately so I absolutely have to have a replacement… And then there’s the dresses. This Asos shirt dress with a delicate frill is utterly adorable.

Knitwear and Long-sleeves
It was lovely to see the sun in Northamptonshire yesterday but blimey it’s still chilly at night isn’t it? A bit of striped knitwear is in order or of course a long-sleeved breton top.

That’s your lot folks, and what a whole heap of eye-candy there was. I apologise if you spend your lunch hour doing a spot of online shopping. Do let me know your favourite stripey buys and how you wear them.
I love the back detail on that top in the photo. May need to hop over to our brand new Zara here in Oz and have a hunt for it!
I am currently awaiting the restock of this amazing stripe dress http://novemknight.com/products/bardot-deux
Can’t wait to get my hands on one.
Love, love, love the dress Naomi. One of those items you’d get loads and loads of wear out of x
There will always be a place in my heart – and wardrobe- for a Boden stripy top or six.
Have you seen the one with gold dots on it Alice? So cute!
I have a mountain (and I’m not even joking) of stripy tops from Cos in both short and long sleeves and in a myriad of colours and they’ve been worth every penny. I definitely need to branch out a bit more on the striped agenda though and love love love the Topshop skirt!
The topshop skirt is a stunner Lolly. You know you need this in your life…
I love the La Redoute top Lauren – but I hate the sizing! Would you say it’s on the generous side or quite snug? Would love to buy for post-bump..!
So excited for you and your bump Katie! The top is on its way to me now – hoping to get it today and I’ll let you know x
Ah thank you, and yes please Lauren – as I’m a little stuck for trying on at the moment 😉 xx
Hi lovely, finally got hold of the La Redoute top yesterday and it has to go back unfortunately – it’s too generous – I wanted it for casual rather than smart but the fit is bit too baggy in the arms x
I want it all Laurie – uh oh! xxx
Oops, sorry lovely x
I love the Zara top you’re wearing…. about to add to my basket but can I just ask a quick sizing question…without overtly asking you your size (which would just be plain rude!), I’m usually a size 10, do you think a medium would be ok for the frayed zara top? Thanks!
Hi Nicola, I’m usually between sizes in Zara and went for the larger of the two. I think a medium would be fine 🙂 x
Thank you! About to place a rather large order, for which RMS gets the blame as I didn’t have it on my radar to look at Zara at the mo 😉
Maternity Stripe Strappy Cami from topshop Lauren? Is there more baby news on the RockMy team? 🙂 That zara top is gorgeous…and it was payday yesterday.
Ha ha Kat, meant to put in the post that I couldn’t find the standard version online!
I had to return the SAME stripey top from Top Shop – not maternity one! I ordered that and a similar black one. I couldn’t get the stripey one over my head!! I don’t have a particularly large head or broad shoulders. I’m fairly tall and the black cami was from the tall range so maybe that’s it. Gutted though as I really liked the design of the stripey one.
It just didn’t do it for me Lynn – I felt really exposed in it! Stripes seem to be all over so hopefully you’ll find another one. I’m going to nip to Oasis to see theirs at the weekend.
Love this post, specifically the La Redoute sweatshirt and the Asos dress – so cute! Please do report back on the sizing for La Redoute number, it does seem to be all over the place! x
[…] post from Rock My Style on ‘Beyond the Breton‘, aka a post all about striped items of clothing I could buy has made me want to sack off […]
