How many of you dabble in a bit of door stalking over the festive period? I know I do. I ruddy love a walk around the neighbourhood to peek at a beautifully painted door dressed up with a wreath at Christmas. It’s so welcoming and festive and smells divine. My postman even commented on the fragrance of my eucalyptus wreath last year.

{You Will Need}
  • One wreath wire ring
  • Reel wire
  • Florist stub wire
  • Florist scissors or garden secateurs
  • Moss
  • Selection of foliage
  • Items to decorate with e.g Pine Cones, mini pineapples, pepper corns
  • Copper spray paint
  • Glue gun
  • Ribbon

{Tutorial steps}
  1. Start by securing your reel wire onto the ring by wrapping it round several times & making a knot.
  2. Take a section of the moss & place it on top of the ring making a sausage shape.
  3. Wrap the wire around the moss to secure it and continue to follow this method until the entire ring is covered with moss.
  4. Cut a small bundle of your foliage to even lengths (approx 15cm) remove some of the bottom leaves.
  5. Place the foliage on top of the moss ring & attach by wrapping the wire around the stems and ring three times.
  6. Repeat and place the next bundle of foliage over the top of the stems from the last bundle to cover/hide the wire. Continue to do so around the whole ring ensuring that you’re going in the same direction.

    7. Once you have your foliage ring you can then start to add on your decorations.

  7. Cut the stems off the pineapples & spray them with the copper spray paint, leave to dry for 5 minutes.
  8. Wire the pineapples onto the wreath using the thicker stub wire; push the wire through the pineapple.
  9. Push the wire through the wreath and secure by adding a knot or twisting the ends of the wire together.

  10. Wire the pine cones onto the wreath using the reel wire secure by adding a knot or twisting the ends of the wire together.
  11. Wire the pepper corns onto the wreath using the reel wire, secure by adding a knot or twisting the ends of the wire together.
  12. Finish the wreath off by adding a pretty bow ribbon either to the bottom or top of your wreath; attach using a hot glue gun.

{Additional tips}

If you wanted to create a more traditional festive look you could use pine instead of foliage and add dried fruit (apple/orange slices) and cinnamon sticks.
You can play around with all sorts of decorations, feathers, glitter and even add mini baubles and battery operated fairy lights to really make a statement.
