I have A LOT of make-up brushes. And I reach for them less and less now I have moved into Motherhood. Yes they give a more professional finish but I just don’t have time for the extra faff every morning. I am however very faithful to my mini selection by Real Techniques. So portable.

And when I do have time this lot are still my budget go-tos.

Recently however, a recommendation by India Knight in the Sunday Times Magazine made me buy….yes you guessed it, another make-up brush. I found her review utterly convincing and as a result splashed out twenty quid on the O Wow brush by Cailyn Cosmetics . The claims are quite spectacular – apparently it gives you an “airbrush” finish when using foundation, powders or blushers. Which is just what I need after endless toddler related disturbed nights and an unpleasant cold have left me with dark circles and general blotchiness.

I can’t vouch for foundation of the liquid kind but this brush does absolutely make your powder almost appear like foundation when you use the O Wow to apply. I notice that my pores are practically invisible (this doesn’t happen with a regular Kabuki) and the finish lasts longer – if I was to hazard a guess I’d say it adds 50% to the longevity at least.

The brush also feels lovely which is so important, the bristles are densely packed and velvety, it’s a real pleasure to use. I also like the way it stands up on it’s own and has a rather nifty lid to keep away dust and other nasties that accumulate on your dressing table.

Do I use it every day? No. Some days the only places I visit are the nursery to pick Mabel up and the post office so an airbrushed finish isn’t a priority. If I go anywhere else though, be it a meeting, a special occasion or even just out and about on the weekend then I find myself reaching for it more and more. And before you ask this is not a sponsored post. Every so often I get really excited about what might be considered a rather frivolous and spendy item that is so good I simply have to tell you about it.

Of course if you really wanted to go the whole luxe flawless nine yards you could use the O Wow brush with my favourite Guerlain shiny balls…..

Should you be so inclined, you can purchase the Cailyn Cosmetics O Wow brush from Victoria Health.
