I have spent much of January and February in a uniform of leather and wool. I tell a lie actually as I’ve also been sporting a rather large selection of ‘mufti wear’ as we tackle the first round of decorating but when I’ve left the house I seem to favour a jumper and leather skirt.

I have to admit I haven’t even managed to pull together a winter capsule wardrobe. I’m still kitting out in the same stuff from my autumn capsule with a few thicker knits thrown in. My clothes are still strewn all over the place as we haven’t got round to sorting out any storage yet. However I’ve come up with a whole new plan for the closet conundrum which no doubt I’ll share with you soon.

Right, back to the leather, well pleather in my case. Charlotte was sporting a lush faux red leather one last week from Free People, I on the other hand have a Zara a-line and Next Pencil one in my wardrobe both of which are a couple of years old.
I spend half of my week in a smart-casual office where it’s perfectly acceptable to wear a leatherette skirt (as long as it’s a fairly decent length). I also like their versatility for nipping to the pub or out shopping. This year I’ve teamed with many different knits for a bit of cosy texture.

At the bottom of the post there’s a little round-up of pleather skirts (all under £50 I have to add). A special mention has to go out to a few bobby dazzlers. How much fun is the Oasis fringed number?! Fab for channelling the seventies vibe. I’m also tempted by their grey version to mix it up from the usual black though this one in particular seems a bit short. Then there’s a cheeky side split over at Warehouse and a cute wrap-around from H&M. For those of you who like a fuller shape then Topshop have a skater style which would look great with a turtle neck. but if you fancy being a bit more demure, the Mango a-line grey skirt is a stunner.
Forever 21 have a very sleek pencil number for those who like a longer length – or alternatively the Asos one shown in the image above is a super sexy and sophisticated get-up as well.
How do you style your leather or pleather skirt? Any one else love a wool and leatherette combo? Any leather skirt finds you’d love to share? If you’re after a pair of leather trousers do check out Charlotte’s post from a couple of months ago.
