Last Friday I shared some amazing kitchen cupboard beauty with you all that hopefully had you reaching for the fridge rather than the spendy John Lewis counters. Who knew that a good old avocado could be just as good on your skin as it is in your tummy and a far more environmentally friendly alternative too!

Following on from the basics I’ve got a few lovely recipes for you to use (courtesy of my mum!). These are all still really simple so give them a try.

Beauty Recipes

Sea Salt Foot Soak

This is an absolutely gorgeous foot soak to revive tired tootsies and make them super soft.

1 cup epsom salt
1 cup sea salt
1 cup baking soda
15-20 drops peppermint essential oil

  • Simply combine all the ingredients together.
  • Store in an airtight container or glass mason jar.
  • When you want to use sprinkle a few spoons in a bowl of warm water, dip your feet and relax.
  • Facial Scrub

    This scrub is so gentle on your skin but leaves it feeling all glowy.

    1 tspn ground almonds
    1 tspn fine oats
    1 tspn olive oil/avocado oil
    1 pinch salt
    1/2 tspn cider vinegar

  • Mix vinegar, salt and some olive oil or similar.
  • Add the almonds and oats.
  • Use as a facial scrub.
  • Banana Face Mask

    Banana is anti bacterial which makes it great for acne and blemishes.

    1 banana
    1 tspn milk
    Pinch of nutmeg
    1 tspn oatmeal powder (optional)

  • Mix together the banana, milk, nutmeg and some oatmeal powder (if you have it)
  • Apply to your face and leave on for 10 minutes
  • Rinse off with warm water
  • Fine Hair Mask

    This is ideal for reviving fine, limp hair and adding volume to your do.

    1/2 cup flat beer
    1 tsp sunflower oil
    1 egg

  • Pour the beer in to a container and leave it to sit for a few hours to go flat
  • Mix with the oil and egg
  • Apply to clean, damp hair and leave on for 15 minutes
  • Rinse off with cool water
  • Honey & Coconut Hair Repair

    If you’ve been overdoing the styling or getting the blow dryer out a bit too often then this one’s for you.

    2 tbsp coconut oil
    2 tbsp honey

  • Mix together the coconut oil and honey. You can heat it gently in a saucepan if needed
  • Apply to wet hair and leave on for around 30-40 minutes
  • Rinse and then wash your hair using your normal routine
