I think it was Amal Clooney that started it – resplendent in a mustard yellow dress at Meghan & Harry’s wedding. Then more recently Kate Middleton, aka The Duchess of Cambridge, wearing a gorgeous sunshine shade frock to Wimbledon. Not to mention our very own Insta high street fashion Queen Holly Willoughby in a bright lemon ruffle Whistles number whilst presenting This Morning.

Love it or loathe it, yellow is BIG news right now and it’s just so summery and happy. If you’ve always shied away with the fear of resembling a slightly odd shaped banana (happens) then I’ve picked out several considered pieces for you and I promise there is a hue to suit every skin tone. Personally I’m a fan of sherbet – it really compliments my pale (currently slightly bronzer enhanced) epidermis and ash blonde barnet combo.

The Best Yellow Dresses To Wear To A Wedding

Or a party. Or a BBQ. Or an outdoor cinema trip (We have booked to see Top Gun at our local National Trust this Friday, SO excited!).

Over on Rock My Wedding we are doing our best to officially bring yellow back for bridesmaids – much like we did with peach way back when in 2010. But if you are not signed up to be Maid of Honour anytime soon, then it’s still our number one choice for guests too.

I’m loving the lemon crochet over-the-knee and with bardot neckline dress from Paper Dolls at ASOS, £60, and the slightly lampshade-esque lace gown from Warehouse.

For a more casual vibe Topshop’s Broderie Maxi dress and striped shirt dress are both under fifty quid.

My most expensive find is a floral floaty full length frock from LoveShackFancy at Net-A-Porter. It’s part little-house-on-the-prairie part sexy milk maid but I think it’s ace. Definitely an investment buy. And on the subject of spendy yet excellent value, you can buy Valentino for under £300 at The Outnet – my most visited online shopping destination of all for designer bargains. This buttercup Woven-trimmed basket weave dress is my most favourite of all. Apologies in advance if they have already sold out by the time you read this feature.

If you don’t want a dress but still want a splash of sunshine….

Then how about this cute polka dot tie neck shirt from Boden? or a pair of less-than-half-price Jimmy Choo sandals?. I’m also a fan of the bohemian Maxi skirt from Hush. Last but not least I need to talk about yellow cropped trousers. No, I never would have considered these either but I follow @sunshinesamblog and she looked AMAZING in a mustard pair. I have found a similar high-waisted design for £17.99 at New Look. You’re welcome.
