Last week I hopped on the Eurostar to Paris (taking advantage of the brilliant January sale, £29.50 each way – bargain!). I’ve been to Paris a few times and already ticked off all the major sights and museums, so this trip was about pottering around the city with no particular plan. Here’s my five favourite finds…

Merci Cinéma Café, Boulevard Beaumarchais

This bustleing cinema-themed retro-style café is a great lunch stop. A glass of soup (I know, a bit weird, tasted good though) and a plate of charcuterie, washed down with a glass of fresh juice kept me going until dinner. Don’t skip a trip to the toilet, which is covered in vintage movie posters and pages from old magazines. Instagram heaven!

Hotel Amour, 8 Rue De Navarin

Having pinned a picture of the pink neon Amour sign that hangs outside the hotel to the Rock My Style Pinterest board, this was a must-visit. I sipped a couple of glasses of (very good) red wine in the courtyard bar and did my best to avoid the attentions of a (very drunk) man on the table next door.

La Maison Mère, 4 Rue De Navarin

On the same street as the Hotel Amour, I stopped by this New York style bistro (think white tiles, vintage furniture and quirky touches, like bowler hat light shades) for dinner. I shared plates of cheese and meat and didn’t share the A-mazing cheesecake. Apparently the burgers are the best in Paris. Clearly I’ll have to go back.

Bob’s Juice Bar, 15 Rue Lucien

Having arrived in Paris with a stinking cold I was in serious need of some vitamins. I headed to this cute juice bar and downed a green smoothie. I have no idea what was in it that made it such an alarming shade of green, but I felt instantly better. Fruit and veg: 1. Evil cold: 0.

The Sunken Chip, 39 Rue Des Vinaigriers

I love how bonkers the very idea of this place is, a proper fish and chip shop in the heart of Paris. The Breton-sporting staff are ridiculously cute. The fish and chips are ridiculously good. And hearing the words “chip butty” and “mushy peas” in a French accent? Brilliant.

It was also my first time doing airbnb and I can’t recommend it highly enough. I stayed in a chic flat six floors up in Montmartre, which worked out much cheaper than staying in a similarly stylish boutique hotel. Every morning sitting at ‘my’ dining table and eating croissants and pain aux raisins bought from the nearby bakery, I felt as if I lived in Paris, if only for a couple of days.

I’m already planning my next trip (I’ve got to try the burgers at La Maison Mère, right?!). Where are you favourite spots in Paris? Have you done airbnb? Do share.
