It’s Monday and we all deserve a treat so we’re going to spoil you with one of your favourite features – yep, you’ve guessed it, it’s a home tour. As briefly mentioned in Friday’s rental feature we’re having a cup of tea and a good old gossip round at the home of Hayley Stuart. Come in and make yourself comfortable.

Living Room

The living room was the first room I made over. It was magnolia and not my taste at all. We had a huge white leather sofa that was restricting so once I ordered new ones I started planning the rest of the room. Hydrangeas were my inspiration for this room. I found an image on Pinterest of a wedding table in dark wood, covered in burgundy hydrangeas with some brass candle sticks and I was so drawn to it.

Dining Room

Once the living room was finished I got working on the dining room. I used similar tones so that the rooms flowed well together. I found so many bargains for this room from Gumtree, vintage shops and car boot sales, including the tea chest side tables, the storage unit and the rug. The table was made by a carpenter using antique scaffolding boards and I made the chandelier myself using around 4000 beads. (Visit I am Hayley Stuart for the tutorial). I kept a lot of things I already had like the bench and the lamps and just revamped them by painting them.

Kitchen

The kitchen was a harder project because with being a rental I wasn’t able to make any drastic changes. I did however, change the floor using a good quality vinyl in a herringbone effect, then made some leather drawer and cupboard pulls to complement that. I bought some tile stickers from eBay and covered the tiles on one wall as well as using a marble self adhesive to cover the fridge. On the opposite wall I painted the wall using Farrow and Ball Down Pipe and created a feature wall by staining and burning wooden spoons to place around some prints.

Utility Room

The utility room has to be my favourite. I covered the work tops and cupboard doors in self adhesive to get rid of the bland surface underneath the laid some carpet to add warmth.

Bedroom

Our bedroom has had a few makeovers since we moved in, but the purchase of a Persian rug influenced its latest look. I love bohemian interiors so leaned towards that trend whilst designing this room. I didn’t want to spend too much money on this room because my mind changes like the wind so bought some new scatter cushions and baskets for the wall. I made a light shade from an Ikea basket, which is a great feature.
