With just a few weeks left until the official start of autumn, it’s hard to believe we’ll be waving the summer goodbye. It’s been a scorcher of a season and a momentous one for us all. We were all thrilled to be nominated for a Cosmo Blog Award and can’t wait to see what the upcoming awards ceremony holds for us!
As ever, Team Rock My Style and Rock My Wedding have been super busy, working on loads of projects. and our personal lives have been pretty busy too!

I spent nearly the whole summer in London, with just a short break to Cornwall last weekend, so summer 2014 has been all about the city for me. It was three months filled with yoga, mostly at Stretch and discovering lots of new places around East London. One of my favourites was The Cygnet, where I spent many a happy morning/afternoon/evening soaking up the sun. The weather was so good (at least in June and July) that it was an outdoorsy summer, with more than a few afternoons and evenings spent on rooftops high above the city. I think perhaps this might be the summer we reached peak rooftop in London, there were so many bars, cinemas, restaurants and yoga classes happening high above the city. Some of my favourite summer rooftop memories include taking a Friday night Hotpod Yoga class as the sun set up on the roof at Netil House; eating yummy Italian food washed down with (a lot of) white wine at Coppa a cheery summer pop-up decked out with colourful garden sheds and tables covered with checked tablecloths overlooking London Fields; drinking (more) white wine surrounded by fruit trees and wild flowers at the Roof Garden bar on top of the Queen Elizabeth Hall on the Southbank and tucking into barbecue food and drinking (still more) white wine at Roof East a gritty urban oasis on top of carpark in Stratford (sadly I missed out on seeing a movie there as everything I wanted to see booked up super-fast). I’m hoping that at least some of my favourite rooftop finds stay open as we move into Autumn, I like the feeling of being in the city, but not, that you get when you’re several stories up.

Summer for me passed by in a whirlwind of decorating, weekend adventures with family, friends and Mabel and experimenting with new clean eating recipes. Even though it seemed to last all of five minutes, it was at least a very enjoyable and sunshine filled five minutes!

We also, for the first time in what seems like forever, did some work in the garden – planted new flowers and dined al fresco whenever feasible. What is it about eating dinner outside that makes you feel as though you are on holiday? especially if there is a glass of Prosecco involved. We are now the proud owners of a freshly painted upstairs and brand new radiators – I am very excited about using them in winter. Yes, I just admitted I was super excited about radiators…but oh my goodness you should see them! lush.

We go to the Dordogne next week so it doesn’t even feel as though our summer has ended quite yet, just a few more weeks of holiday bliss – I’m going to savour every second.

I think probably like everyone else I feel like this summer has flown past in the blink of an eye – It’s not until I take a glance though my Instagram account that I realise how much I’ve done. That’s one of the reasons why I love Instagram – It works for me as a diary of key events. I’ve travelled to Prague and Lisbon, moved house from Birmingham to Cheltenham and embarked upon a minor renovation project in the process (of which some of you may have realised due to the lack of updates on Rock My Style has fallen slightly behind schedule! Sorry and watch this space!) I’ve been going on regular music based jaunts – the highlights of which were watching Clean Bandit at Somerset House and following my new favourite band Teleman as they set out on their first tour of the UK.

Time left over was spent enjoying the finer things in life (gin) and sharing some quality time with my family, especially Lizzie my partner in crime and my brand new nephew Taro who is already growing up fast. Oh and of course let’s not forget the latest addition to the family – Kate Moss the kitten. It’s been a busy Summer indeed!

For me, Summer 2014 will always be remembered as a bittersweet year. My lovely Gran passed away last month so an otherwise happy summer will always be tinged with sadness.
There have been some really memorable highs and I’m thankful for the opportunity to spend so much time with my family in my home town of Sheffield, as well as gallivanting to the Lakes, London, Brighton, Cambridge and Northumberland for long breaks, sunny days and birthday celebrations.
Love has been the main theme of the season; I watched two of my dearest friends marry on the beachfront, toasted another two as they (finally) got engaged after 12 years. I also celebrated the joint stag and hen of another lovely couple and shimmied on the dance floor at the weddings of family and friends. It’s definitely been one to remember.

What are your memories of this gorgeous summer? Has the sun shone down on you? What have been your best moments of Summer 2014?
