I have my first wedding of the year this weekend and I can’t wait but I had a real wobble when it came to what to wear. I find weddings quite difficult to dress for in general and then it’s an early Spring wedding so the weather can be temperamental. I’m a very casual girl. I don’t really do getting dressed up. It doesn’t feel very me to don a tight fitting dress with a massive pair of heels and some gorgeous tassels hanging from my lobes. I think people who go full on glam look amazing – perhaps I’m just not brave enough. So when I have to get ‘dressy’ I get into a bit of a flap.

Turns out there was no need for all the flapping because there are tonnes of dresses out there for a girl like me. And then the blummin’ Beast from the East arrived and it got cold. We’re actually expecting about 10 degrees at the weekend so it’s going to feel positively tropical compared to the weekend just gone. But I wanted something that is going to keep me warm, that could possibly be paired with a nice thick pair of tights should we enter another freeze.

This is a roundup of all my favourite pieces for an early Spring wedding where you want to still portray that spring is literally on the door step but you want to be able to be warm; so long sleeves, or the ability to combine with tights… I’ve even thrown a  couple of suits in there!

Dresses
Ok let’s kick off with dresses and the piece I finally settled on. Is it ok to wear black to a wedding? I was a bit concerned it would look a little dark but the purple and yellow in the print on the floral bird print dress from Warehouse actually look really lush and bright so I’m happy that I’m touching on Spring. I’m going to team with some nude pointed court shoes and a nude coloured balzer and I’ll have a pair of tights with me, just in case. I also love a sale and it was an absolute bargain. This pink peplum hem dress from Wallis is a very similar cut to the Warehouse one. I think it can be really flattering and girly without looking too  overdone. And this colour is fabulous and your shoulders re nice and covered. It’s also in the sale too. So many sales still on at the moment!

What was the last thing you bought from All Saints? It’s been a while since I’ve been into one of their stores but I really love this Kay Pepper dress. I love the cuffs and think it would be lush teamed with a nice pair of nudey blush heels. I seem to have this thing for piping. It’s used so beautifully in this Linnea cream silk dress from L.K. Bennett. Super classy.

Let’s look again at something a bit brighter – more Springy. Miss Selfridge have this pink tier wrap dress in this epic print. The sleeves are perfect for the crossover weather. That’s a couple of pinks but what about red? The classy little bow on this Zara dress sets the piece off perfectly. I’m just not sure red suits my skin tone – I wish it did. It would also be lush with some black tights. That’s our first gem from Zara. This floral print gathered dress is our second. I love the flirty split. And this contrast print dress might be my favourite of the three. The stripes, the flowers the general contrast. What’s not to love?

Spring as sprung all over this frock from H&M. The back detail is gorgeous. And then I found this collar dress at Ted Baker! I love how they’ve styled it with the red shoes… Imagine with red shoe boots to keep your toes warm though. Lush. And my last two dress finds are from Anthropologie and ASOS. The Anthro dress has such a beautiful print and a lovely delicate back cut out. Such lovely colours to move from Autumn to Spring as well. And the block colour of the waterfall dress from ASOS is so striking and what a lovely cut!

Jump Suits
I’m back on red again. I really like the twisting detail on the Izobel jumpsuit from Coast. And the there’s this really smart looking blazer jumpsuit from Zara. I love the statement earrings Zara have paired them with – perhaps I should be brave and try and find some? Two more jumpsuits for your viewing pleasure. This chiffon off the shoulder number from ASOS, another stand spring colour and then this really bold print from River Island. It has a hint of kimono about it doesn’t it?

Suits
If there is one place you’re guaranteed to find an epic suit it’s Zara. And they have got so many good options this season. It’s been a long time since I wore a suit and so I was really tempted to get one for this wedding. My ultimate fave is this jungle print trouser and blazer combo. I’d probably opt for a lighter top, maybe a silky cami, for a wedding but I just think it looks so smart. And my last combination is this amazing jacquard suit. Really love the shawl collar.

So there you have it. Do you think I’ve chosen wisely? How do you find dressing for a wedding? Are you a bit casual like me and get the fear or do you go all out and glam up to the max? Would love to see what you’ve been buying for any occasions you have coming up this year. Oh and if you’re in need of the perfect bag for a wedding you need to see Charlotte’s post from yesterday and her Chloe cross body bag. It is perfect.
