If you’ve read my previous posts on Rock My Style then you’ll already be aware that my interiors kryptonite happens to be chairs. Something about a beautifully designed chair, be it a well turned leg or a delicious pattern or even the slope of a back can make me go weak at the knees and send me reaching for my purse to buy it. eBay is particularly bad for enabling this habit and I’ve recently ventured out into Ercol benches too.

On the smaller interiors front, and by this I mean those decorative knick knacks and bits and pieces that really finish off a room, it’s all about the vases and pots. Give me a wonderful and interesting vessel and I’ll be your best friend forever. And this year there’s a plethora of beautiful containers in the shops that I have my eye on. It seemed only right to share my finds with you too…

Think Pink

Is it me or has there been a real flood of pink products into the interiors world at the moment…and no I’m not just referring to the ever popular blush and copper trend. I’m talking about feminine, unashamedly girly pink vases and jugs that would look perfectly at home in Marilyn Monroe’s powder room. There’s three I have my eye on and I may have accidentally on purpose bought one of them whilst researching the post.

First up is this amazing faceted glass number from Graham & Green. I want it. Badly. The geometric shape is ridiculously on trend and the dusky pink finish makes my heart skip a beat. The fact it’s only £12.95 has already made me add it to my virtual basket…I just need to actually commit to buy…

Cox and Cox have also nudged their way in on the pink agenda with their egg shaped vase. The speckled finish and the fact it’s made from high quality earthenware gives it that touch of luxe. It would look equally beautiful filled with a singular bud or filled to the brim with blowsy blooms.

So the vase I’ve bought then…well it’s this one from Cooee Design. And I may have bought a smaller one in white too…eek! Don’t judge me. I couldn’t resist their silky matte surface and how amazing they look when paired up. I’m yet to receive them in the post but I promise to post a picture on Instagram when I do.

Concrete Crush

Concrete doesn’t have to be all brutalism. In fact in the right context it can be soft, warm and welcoming. I loved Lauren’s use of it in her bathroom in her previous house for example and Ste is seriously considering kitchen worktops made from the stuff in the new house too.

Both Conpot and The Future Kept have brilliant pots for sale using this wonderful material which look particularly effective when planted up with architectural plants such as Cacti. Conpot specialises concrete vessels but my favourite by far and away has to be this one which comes in five different colour ways including white marble and black basalt which I know would look awesome paired together.

Equally I love this pure white version from The Future Kept which is cast by hand on the Isle of Wight and comes in three different sizes which means obviously you need all three…

All The Colours

If conventional isn’t your thing, or you’re looking to inject a splash of colour into your interiors then I present to you this petite bud vase from Anthropologie. A purple petaled pansy adorns this yellow beauty so even when you don’t have anything fresh to pop into it you can be sure that it brightens up any space you put it in.

You may have spotted these creamers from Rowen & Wren on our Instagram feed. Granted they’re technically jugs but that doesn’t mean they can’t double up as somewhere safe to pop your florals (especially those with smaller stems). The porcelain has been glazed on the inside making them food and dishwasher safe, whilst the outer surface is left matte. Available in two gorgeous chalky shades, tea rose pink or dusky mint.

Classic Simplicity

You can’t go far wrong with simple glass. It’s simple, it’s elegant and you can guarantee it will slide easily into pretty much any interior regardless of the colour scheme.

The White Company always have beautiful vases in their product ranges and this tulip shaped version is no exception. Classic and sophisticated, the style of the vase creates the perfect flower arrangement for you which means you can kick back and enjoy looking at the blooms all the more.

If like me you favour large blooms on single stems then you’ll be looking for a column vase that is sturdy enough to support them without looking too clunky on the shelf. I like Cox and Cox’s take on the the design complete with hand-finished bamboo handle which would look wonderful on a classic mantlepiece.

For a column vase with a difference, look to Garden Trading and their Broadwell Vase which has a wide base and a neck that steps in from the main column of the vessel. There’s a sense of balance and interest in the piece and for £12 you can’t go far wrong.

Quirky & Interesting

I particularly love new and interesting takes on the traditional vase form so these cutesy egg cup planters from Rowen and Wren are right up my street. They’ve thought of everything when it comes to either planting them up with succulents or housing a single bloom. Each egg has a drain hole and drip plate so you can keep your miniature displays watered. I love their suggestion of planting them with miniature herbs to create your very own indoor herb garden on your kitchen surface.

Equally I’m adoring this lightbulb shaped vase which is based on the traditional style Edison bulb made from clear glass and standing on its head. Available in three sizes starting from £12.95.

Lastly, and I’m bending the rules slightly here, vessels don’t always need to be made from glass or porcelain. How about paper instead… such as this Uashmama metallic paper bag from The Future Kept. Available in rose gold, platinum and silver, these washable paper bags are made from 100% washable cellulose eco-friendly material. They feel like leather, wash like a fabric, and can be flattened for easy storage. Perfect then for popping ugly plastic containers into for that extra bit of pretty.

So are any of you addicted to florals? Do you have a favourite vase? Have you got your eye on something new for the summer? I’m currently growing my own flowers in a cutting garden so that I’ll have hundreds of blooms all summer long…
